Unique, quirky hotel with great pub and excellent food
Pros:

Lovely welcome, friendly and helpful staff. Quirky historic hotel and beautiful gardens. The pub and restaurant are fab and beautifully decorated. The rooms lean in (heavily!) to a chinzy decor which makes for a unique experience. Excellent food and real ales.

Cons:

Beds could do with new mattresses / pillowd and bedding not as clean as I would like (small hairs on bedding). Hotel on main road rather noisy at night with windows open but that is expected for this location.. Swings in room are quirky... but very noisy when neighbouring room decided to swing at 10.30 at night!

Pros:

Lovely staff, Stuart, Teresa. Excellent service
V friendly.

Cons:

Its quirky and the gardens were lovely but our room needed modernising, carpet was thread bare and the decor could do with freshening up...

Beautiful rooms and delicious food.
Pros:

The decor was lovely and the swing in the bedroom was unexpected! The bed was really comfortable and the shower was nice and hot. Food was very good. We had dinner and breakfast and both were delicious. The gardens outside were lovely. All of the staff were friendly and attentive.

The hotel provided us with an ideal base for exploring the area, but a considerable amount of decorating is needed
Pros:

Friendly staff and the hotel had a very nice garden in a good location. Our room was large and provided ample space for our two dogs. The shower was excellent. The evening meals were very good and presented to a high standard.

Cons:

The room decor was not to our taste at all (there was a swing hanging from a beam in the middle of the room!). It was also in need of redecorating and re carpeting, as was the outside corridor.
The stairs were a major problem for us, but that was because one of our dogs is very old and struggled massively.

A real gem
Pros:

Our stay was a Monday evening and as the hotel wasn't full we were upgraded to a special room!
The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The room was very comfortable with interesting added features.
Our evening meal was excellent and beautifully presented. An imaginative chef creating tasty dishes.
A look around the hotels gardens is a must see.

Fantastic Stay, Just How It Should Be, Great Food, Staff, and Setting, I'll Be Back!
Pros:

From arriving at the hotel - we arrived later in the evening, the welcome was great, we were made to feel welcome and nothing seemed too much trouble from the hardworking team. It was lovely to stay in what feels a homely, family, not corporate, hotel, very personal, friendly, and warm. It's a lovely, quirky, characterful building, little staircases off at angles and directions, really great.
Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked, great quality and piping hot, good selection of cereals and juices, alongside the cooked choices - full English was lovely, washed down with a decent pot of tea.
On our second evening, we had dinner too, excellent, lovely quality ingredients, well prepared and cooked, a nicely paced meal, lovely starter, fantastic steak, and a delicious dessert, all in front of a blazing log burner while the biting, cold wind blew outside.

Cons:

Nothing, it was great, and its on my list for the next time I stay in the area.
