Nice heritage hotel at a fair price
Pros:

The hotel is a beautiful heritage building, nicely restored, and still in Australian private ownership. That is very commendable. The service was very friendly, and the noisy fridge was solved quickly.

Cons:

The room was quite okay — nothing spectacular, but it was clean and fairly spacious. Unfortunately, the water in the shower was not really hot and the water pressure was low. There were no extra pillows besides the four provided, and the pillows were fairly flat. The Continental breakfast is okay, but again fairly limited. The prices of any extras are on the higher side. It's okay for being included and you won't go hungry. We tried the sauna and spa. Unfortunately, the spa was not working, and the sauna didn't go above fifty degrees, which doesn't really classify as a sauna. It also needs some TLC, with mould and rotten wood around the skirting.

Die Mitarbeiterin an der Rezeption ist ganz besonders auf die Gäste eingegangen. Da es zu unserer Zeit draussen etwas kühler war, war der Ofen im Salon schon angemacht, als wir abends ins Hotel kamen, und konnten uns erstmal aufwärmen. Super Service

Cons:

Frühstück kontinental einfach. Als frisches Obst gab es nur Äpfel. Toast war da, aber keine Brotalternative. Zusammenfassend Frühstück OK, passt aber nicht zum Ambiente und dem 1. Klasse Service der Rezeption.

Wonderful old hotel. Michelle the manager is an absolute star.
Pros:

Great location, walking distance from all the restaurants and shops. Really loved the cosy old fashioned Lounge area to sit and enjoy a glass of red with a book. Michelle the receptionist was extremely lovely.

Cons:

Our room was downstairs, small and not inspiring. Perhaps there are better room available?

My stay at the Palais Royale was a lovely experience with friendly and helpful staff.
Pros:

I love this grand old hotel. The room was large and comfortable. The location was brilliant within working distance of shops, cafes and restaurants. The staff were exceptional - friendly and accommodating. Really enjoyed my stay and will definitely visit again.
