As we had a car and parking was available we did not mind being in a hotel that was located on the outskirts of Winchester.
There was not a gas station nearby.
Nice small business-like hotel just outside of Winchester so definitely need car for getting around. All staff very helpful & friendly. Room large and clean. Daily water provided. On-site restaurant had good choices.
Nothing.
Like this hôtel breakfast was Nice staff were friendly
Staff were nice and helpful
Menu was limited and quite expensive for what you got.
Breakfast was oddly presented and not really appealing.
Location we were over for a wedding nearby. The staff were excellent. Restaurant and bar were convenient and food quite good although expensive
For the standard of hotel and price the rooms were devoid of any drawers to put non hanging clothes. Maybe fine for overnight but not for the 11 days we stayed. In addition the wardrobe is tiny. I couldn’t believe there’s no fridge in the room. We won’t stay again. Not too impressed at £10 per night parking
Paying for parking
Staff, pillows, duvet and very good breakfast
The carpets. Despite being new the design makes them look very worn.
And a 11am checkout. Why?
Upon arrival back in Australia in May, we received a fine of £100 ($AU200) from the Parkingeye company who mange’s VOCO’s parking. The IHG hotel is miles out of Winchester and we couldn’t believe they charged £10 per night to park when booking.
Upon paying $10 cash to the receptionist, and providing the hire car registration, my husband moved the car from dropoff point to the car park.
Parkingeye had the time of entry and time of departure on the parking charge claim sent to us by Europcar, which suggests that the hotel entered the details provided. However, VOCO has not responded to emails requesting help with this matter, so despite a couple of good things about the hotel. It gets a one.
Lobby was great
Aircon didn’t work in room so we were moved. Parking was at additional cost!!
This is a very nice, secluded and quiet property in Winchester. It is only about 20 min from the airport. The City Centre is about 5 min drive. The hotel gives a luxurious feel with pleasant and inviting entry. The room was large, roomy and comfortable. The restaurant breakfast was plentiful with cooked to order options. The staff were friendly and welcoming! The only draw back was the poor air conditioning - hall ways, gym and lobby were all cold, as soon as you walk into the room, it was easily 20 degrees hotter with no ability to open a window. On the positive, they provided two stand up fans that helped cool the room a bit and make it semi comfortable through the night. Truth be told. I often rate any hotel without adequate AC below average, however many of the other benefits outweighed the minor inconvenience. Definitely would stay here again if in town.
Breakfast price was a bit on the high side for us, £20per. Not sure if this is standard across all hotels such as this. Although a bowl of cereal was all I wanted.
