It’s not 5 star
The Lake Eyre Penthouse was absolutely incredible. My bridesmaid and I stayed there the night before my wedding day, and it was perfect! So much space, a beautiful space with an amazing view off the private balcony. I couldn’t have been happier and would love to stay there again!

Noise from lift doors operating was noticeable in room 1401
I love the bed and the pillows, which is why I really enjoy staying at the Olsen.
Unfortunately the 2 nights i stayed this time there was only warm water in the shower. The 1st day I thought maybe it was just one of those things, but the 2nd day with no hot water I throught I'd mention it when I checked out.

The staff (whom we found) emptied it stat,
Not a problem Small oversight by the Cleaner.
No action required by the management.
It was mainly clean, minus the elevators and the adjacent restaurant was lovely too.
The fact The Olsen only has parking for 30 vehicles is a joke. Drove 4 and 1/2 hrs to be told it’s a ‘first come first served basis’ for using their parking. Thankfully there was a parking place across the road but would of rather have parked within the hotel complex. The toilet didn’t flush properly and the bed was as hard as a rock. I suggest staying here only if you are ubering around Melbourne.
Have stayed at the Olsen a few times and has been great each time.
Unfortunately there were a few issues with the room including:
- ants in the kitchenette area and bathroom
- one bedside lamp didn't work
- the room was dusty resulting in an asthma flareup
- the bed was weirdly lumpy/uncomfortable
- ABC channels on the TV did not work
