Warm, comfy, disappointed with lack of soap and non working remote

Remote for the TV didn’t work and there was no hand soap! I made sure to choose somewhere with a tv & was excited to kick back and watch TV but remote would not work, I couldn’t ask reception as it was late at night ):

Pros:

It was affordable, and we needed something in Greymouth. The car park was at the back, rather than having your car parked in front of your bedroom. You could see evidence of maintenance, and/or attempts to modernise the building and facilities, however it looked and felt like a cheap motel, with a fresh paint job and a few fancy lights.

Cons:

The hotel room does not look like in the picture. The mattresses were far too soft. The bathroom upgraded at some point, and passable when it comes to cleanliness, but it was obvious that this was a retrofit job rather than a proper renovation. The television, although it provided modern streaming apps, was unable to stream anything due to the poor internet. Our room was part of the main complex,
In the car park at the rear, a piece of colour bond fencing about 2 m² had come loose, and was lying on the ground in the car park, screws and nails sticking out at all. My husband had to move it out of the way so that we could park the car, as there were no other spots.

Although we had prepaid through Booking.com, I had to provide credit card details supposedly “for incidentals”, however there were no incidentals available in the room, I disagree with having to provide my credit card for no reason.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and value of my stay and I'll be back.
Pros:

The room was excellent, clean and tidy, perfect for my stay. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. I had my evening meal in the restaurant and found it very good.

Cons:

Breakfast was unavailable as there were not many guests. That was not a great problem as I went to a cafe in Greymouth, but it would have been nice to be able to have breakfast in the hotel. I'm sure in the busy summer season it would be available.

Was okay but nothing to convince us to stay for our second night in Greymouth
Pros:

Convenient location. Quiet enough

Cons:

It's a bit dated, could use a bit of work. Hardly anyone staying there but another group were put in the room directly across the hall from us, could have spread us apart a little at least.

Rooms- dirty and run down. Previous guest left rubbish in the room that wasn’t removed.

Average, overpriced
Pros:

Spa was nice

Cons:

Breakfast was poor, not even one piece of vegetables. If you are vegetarian, guess it is not really something. Just one type of toast bread as well. Definitely overpriced. Blanket was not really warm in the room. Wifi was not good either.
