De locatie was top, vlakbij een treinstation en ongeveer een kwartier lopen naar het kasteel.

Cons:

De kamer was erg vol met kasten, waardoor we een stoel op de kast hebben moeten zetten om onze koffer kwijt te kunnen. Ook zat er geen deur in de badkamer, enkel een douchegordijn. Een deur zou prettiger zijn en het comfort aanzienlijk verbeteren. Wat ook minder handig was, was de bagageopslag. Pas vanaf 10 uur is er iemand bij de receptie. Voor die tijd staan de koffers onbewaakt in de hal.

Overnighter to see the Military Tattoo.
Pros:

Staff member at reception who met us was very friendly. Very accommodating and showed us to our room, Windsor suite.

Windsor suite had a nice four poster and large room which was nice.

Bathroom adequate although dated. Toilet seat could do with a change.

The room we stayed in was clean and we had read previous reviews and were sceptical.

Yes it’s old, and some unique original furnishings but the rooms could do with decorating and new carpeting.

£170 for one night, competitive price for inner city Edinburgh but reality too much in my opinion for the hotel you get

Paying cash, not a massive issue and got a receipt. But it’s 2026. We were told that the card machine didn’t work but believe this was a convenient excuse. Read into that as you wish.

Pros:

The hotel has an antique look and even though it is quite small it was really clean. It is just 1 minute from tram stop directly leading to the airport.

Cons:

The bed in our Tower room was sqeaking all night with every move so although the matress itself was quite comfy, it was difficult to sleep.
