the best hotel at valae sagrado, amazing staff, amazing food, amazing experience. all the staff really amicable and attentive to our needs, the alcapas at the garden are really something, my kids loved it.
We had an exceptional stay from the moment we were shown to our beautiful garden villa with a stunning view of the mountains and the Urubamba River river flowing closeby. We loved the quiet tranquility being in the valley and I loved my early morning yoga class sitting close to the river. So many little touches such as our English Breakfast Tea Bags and fresh milk being brought to our room for us. All the wonderful cacau choclates each evening and the abundance of water bottles making sure we never dehydrated as were in a very high altitude. It was wonderful to be able to feed the Alpaca's their milk and provided wonderful photographs. Exceptional staff were Alyandro, Food & Beverage Manager, Sabrina, our waitress and Eddy.
A stunning location by the river with rustic charm and the most friendly staff. Alpacas roaming the property which has many beautiful spots to sit and relax. Wish we could have stayed longer
Fantastic atmosphere, incredibly kind and welcoming staff. We came here for a family wedding and stayed 5 nights. No complaints! It was a truly exceptional experience and a trip we will remember for a lifetime. The Hotel helped us set up some pretty amazing excursions, including a train and private tour of Macchu Piccu, as well as a horseback ride throughout the villages of the sacred valley. This was also a very beautiful wedding venue. Easily accommodated large groups. Food was delicious. Thank you very much to the entire Rio Sagrado staff. We will miss you and the alpacas!
We absolutely loved our stay at Belmond Rio Sagrado and would return without hesitation. The setting is truly spectacular—the grounds are beautifully maintained, with stunning mountain views everywhere you look. The pool was gorgeous, and one of our favorite experiences was feeding the alpacas, which was such a fun and memorable touch.
Our room was lovely, exceptionally clean, and very well maintained, with beautiful views of the Sacred Valley. While the accommodations are more understated than some luxury resorts, they felt perfectly in keeping with the peaceful natural surroundings. While there is no air conditioning, we didn't need it at all. The screened doors allow for fresh mountain air, and the hotel thoughtfully provides heat when needed. We especially appreciated that the beds were warmed in the evening—a wonderful touch after a day of exploring.
The spa and jacuzzi were excellent and provided a perfect place to relax. Breakfast was outstanding, with a wide variety of fresh, high-quality options. Dinner was also delicious, and we were especially impressed by the chocolates made on-site. Watching them being prepared fresh in the morning made them even more special.
They also gave us this beautiful hand made travel tags for our children who we weren’t with which was so special. I’ll always cherish them!
We stayed here before visiting Machu Picchu, and it was the perfect place to unwind, acclimate, and enjoy the beauty of the Sacred Valley. From the service to the setting, everything exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended.
This hotel is the true meaning of service of the highest quality. I first want to thank Maribel that made my wife’s and my visit unforgettable. We were welcomed with open arms with a nice reception when we got to the property. The grounds are beautiful from the gardens and different water features. They have young alpacas roaming free which you can feed at 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. I recommend to give it a try you fed them with a bottle of milk and it’s a nice experience and perfect for pictures. The spa was amazing it was so good my wife and I visited 3 times while our stay. The restaurant on property was very good! Delicious selection and great service everyone was very attentive and helpful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Nice heated marble floor in the bathroom and the turn down service was great as they prep your bed and even put really cute hot water filled animals to make your best nice, warm and comfy. Maribel , Julio ,Danae,Domingo,Naisha,Edgar all played a big part in having an unforgettable vacation and I most definitely will return soon to feel the magic and warmth that is forever in our hearts
This is another incredible Belmond property! I only wish we had stayed there longer. Our train from Machu Picchu was delayed, so we didn’t really get settled until 10:30 pm and were exhausted by then and just went to bed. So we only had a couple hours before we had to check out to experience this awesome hotel. From the short time we were there, we were very impressed with the spacious and well-appointed rooms with, the lovely breakfast overlooking the peaceful view of the river, and the kind and attentive staff. We also loved seeing the baby alpacas being fed! This is a hotel we would definitely return to if ever in the Sacred Valley again. It would be great to spend 2-3 nights here and just soak in the relaxing atmosphere.
Officially our 1st stop on our Peru tour - a quick 1 hour flight from Lima and another 90min drive from Cusco to the Sacred Valley.
It was a very interesting drive (shortcuts to avoid main roads). But the destination was so worth the anticipation. At Belmond Hotel Rio Sagrado we found our little piece of paradise. It’s peaceful. Tranquil. And the perfect place to acclimate to the new altitude of approx 2700m above sea level.
I’d strongly suggest not staying in Cusco and spending all your time doing day trips (and hours in a shuttle) to explore the Sacred Valley. Rather stay here and explore at a leisurely pace - with all the key “must see” spots fairly close
We loved our stay at Rio Sagrado.
The space is incredibly peaceful, the river/mountain setting is idyllic.
All the staff were AMAZING - nothing was too much trouble.
Would highly recommend this hotel. A must on your travels.
Oh and being able to feed the resident Alpacas was a super highlight, they just wander which always put a smile on our face.
Thank you for sharing your peace of paradise with us.
It is hard to imagine there is a more beautiful property in the Sacred Valley. If you are going to Machu Pichu, don't have a tight budget, the Rio Segrado+Hriam Bingham train ride is THE best combo you can make during your visit.
22 rooms of paradise. Add the Dany and Sabrina smiles in dining and the front desk "how can I help" Julio and you get a sense of the staff. VERY accommodating.
Clean, spacious, over the top in appointment this Belmond property will make me shop the brand during future travels. Impressive.
Food is only outdone by the grounds on where you eat. Just beautiful and plenty of space to relax and chill. Just gorgeous.
Beat the "high altitude" issue of Cusco by making your first nights to this region in the Sacred Valley and ONLY at the Rio Segrado.
Muy Bien!
Take the bike tour. Carlos was amazing. Make sure you stay at least three days Try to acclimate to the climate with some preparation but the experience of being there is calming and so connecting to nature.
Thank you to Julio and Govani and the whole Belmond team. It was a magical, intimate, and unparalleled experience.
Incredible setting. Beautiful. Amazing staff as in all Belmond Hotels.
A wonderful relax
Nothing
We staied at Belmond Rio Sagrado for few days in March. The hotel is in a magical place near the Urubamba river and completely immerse in nature. The Restaurant, SpA, and all the people at Rio Sagrado made our holidays feel very special. The attention to detail and the care for guests is second to none! If you are planning Machu Picchu the train starts from the hotel and the Hiram Bingham is an absolute MUST. A very special thanks to the GM Javier Carlavilla who managed to solve a personal issue we had with an incredible professionalism, aplomb, and savoir- fair!!
Sometimes there’s just no point hesitating. It’s a Belmont after all.
Pros:
- Lush green boutique hotel, sitting in between majestic mountains and rapids
- Service quality that rivals the Middle East, all staff speak impeccable English
- Gastro food
- Comfortable rooms. First time that no TVs in the rooms is actually a plus
- Roaming Alpacas to enchant the kids
- Activities organized by the hotels e.g stargazing, cooking class, pisco tasting
- Excursions organized by the hotel are perfect (knowledgeable guide, English speakers, water/oxygen/shoe cleaning service, all provided). Alternatively, the hotel can also organize the privatization of a taxi for very cheap to take you wherever you want by yourself (admittedly, it’s better if you can speak a bit of Spanish)
Cons:
- pricey
Strong recommendation: Combine your stay with the Hiram Bingham train (the “Orient Express”) departing from a private train station at the hotel and that takes you to Machu Pichu. It’s a fantastic experience, from start to finish including a tour of the Machu Pichu. Just close your eyes and let them organize everything and in style!
There were 4 of us on a friend’s trip. We had never been to Peru, and wanted a combination of luxury and the opportunity to experience Machu Picchu via the train that leaves from the property. (If you’re booking in advance and want to do the train, make sure it’s a time of year where the train leaves this hotel because it varies). The hotel was very accommodating, and the alpaca feeding experience was a particular highlight. The restaurant service was wonderful, and the staff all went above and beyond. Bernie and Danae are two I remember specifically. And the food was 10/10. There were also some families, so the place is also kid-friendly. But the property is spread out enough that you can socialize or keep to yourself.
EVERYTHING!!! The staff, the food, the beauty of it all, the sweet Alpacas, the service - thank you for bringing so much joy and lifetime memories to our family.
The property was perfection.
Unique property. Exceptional food and value. Very attentive staff. 10/10. Would visit again for longer
Wonderful hotel with fantastic staff!!! Perfect location with lovely rooms and welcoming staff. Amazing stay. We highly recommend!
