The hotel has a quaint, old world feel to it, think 1950s patterned carpet & wallpaper, long hallways, mirrors and interesting pictures on the walls. The room was quiet, well furnished with a window that actually opened, looking out to an internal terrace with plants, tables & chairs. The ensuite was small but clean and quite adequate. IThe hotel is well located at the eastern end of the main mall - Murray St and walking distance to the train station, ferry terminals and many of the city attractions. There are plenty of eating places close by including a good Korean restaurant right next door.

Location is really good to reach most tourist places in the CBD. The hotel itself looked different from international hotels. I choose to test a different type of hotels
Well, the aspect is "old-fashioned", the reception looks like it dates back from the previous century. The room is OK but needs to be modernized or at least be cleaner. The draps were dirty, the remote controls and the telephone looks unclean. the air con didn't look like it's been cleaned for years…Not impressed.
The location was very good. Moreover, the personnel there were always nice and friendly. Because everything is expensive in AUS, I chose to stay at a cheap hotel that has a good reputation. From my point of view, their budget room is still overpriced, but a better choice. A bit worned out hotel, but the room was nicely maintained and I felt their hospitality from the room as well.

There was a water pipe burst on the street, which I understand is not the fault of the hotel. But I had no water to drink, bath, flush the toilet etc.. I brought this up with staff several times after paying full price for a room without facilities, and was told someone would get back to me to resolve this, but alas no one did
I think this is my first time awarding this many stars for a stay. This hotel represented an exceptional value for the cost of the stay. An old establishment that was clean and wonderfully quiet. My room was made up every day. Every staff member I interacted with was helpful and polite. It was an easy walk from the train station after catching the train from the airport. There were too many retail/food facilities around the hotel to begin to list and it is close to both malls. The Café with delightful breakfast bagels is connected to the hotel. There was a laundry and outside seating area. I would certainly stay there again.
Comfy bed and big room.
Shower was inconsistent - scalding hot then cold. Was a real nuisance. Room was located on the 1st floor by the main road and there is a club and people were up making a ton of noise until approximately 5:30 am.

Some staff were disinterested in even assisting to hold door open whilst bringing in luggage. Some staff were more interested in reading a book then assisting by even holding the door open so I could bring the bags through the door
the gentleman on late night shift was very pleasant and helpful. Particularly at 12midnight when one is travel weary.
I appreciated a quiet room.
