Exceptional Stay!
Pros:

I just got back from a four-night stay at the JW Marriott Hotel Bogotá and had an excellent experience. The service was truly outstanding—some of the best I’ve ever had—and it made the entire trip feel easy, effortless and safe. I was surprised to hear that the hotel was more than 15 years old, as it feels brand new. Everything was extremely well maintained, clean, and comfortable, with a polished but welcoming vibe throughout.

The staff really made the difference. Everyone was incredibly kind and attentive. Johanna at the front desk was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. In Food & Beverage, the Executive Chef, Christian and Ignacio were consistently great, and it was clear how much care goes into the overall dining experience and making guests feel at home. Luis the bellman was always attentive and made arrivals and departures smooth and easy. My husband and I were sad to leave!

This was a great stay from start to finish, and the JW Marriott Bogotá truly delivers on warm, thoughtful hospitality. I’d absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

High expectations exceeded - a rare opportunity
Pros:

There are moments in a seasoned traveler’s life when expectation meets reality - and then quietly exceeds it. My week-long stay at the JW Marriott Bogotá was one of those rare instances.

I chose this property deliberately. As a high-status Marriott member and a first-time visitor to Colombia, I wanted the familiarity of a trusted brand as my point of entry into Bogotá. What I received instead was something far more meaningful: a masterclass in hospitality built on trust, precision, and genuine human connection.

My journey began with disruption - an airline delay that pushed my arrival by a full day. With my boyfriend already in Bogotá, I reached out through the Marriott app to request that he check in on our behalf. The response was immediate and human: a simple phone call, answered without friction, and handled with ease. No rigid policy barriers. No transactional tone. Just solutions.

He was checked in without issue - and notably, without a credit card presented upfront.

When I arrived the following day, I was greeted warmly, upgraded to a full suite, and only then asked for payment. In an industry increasingly driven by process and risk mitigation, this level of trust is both rare and powerful. It set the tone for everything that followed.

Over eight days, every operational detail aligned seamlessly. As someone who spends over 200 nights per year in luxury hotels, I can say this without hesitation: there was nothing to fix.

The suite was expansive, quiet, and thoughtfully appointed.
Housekeeping was consistent, unobtrusive, and exacting.
Front desk engagement was warm, efficient, and situationally aware - never scripted.

Every interaction carried the same underlying message: we see you, and we value you.

The executive lounge is where this property distinguishes itself from its peers.

Oscar (breakfast service) and Victor (afternoon/evening hospitality) operate at a level that transcends service and enters the realm of craft. They remember names immediately. Preferences are not just noted - they are internalized. Eggs and mushrooms prepared exactly as requested. Beverage nuances remembered (who likes Chardonnay and who likes Sauvignon Blanc?) without prompting (including the distinctly non-typical American preference for tonic without ice). And even a parting gift: a hug from Victor. I'm really sad to say that I didn't get to say goodbye to Oscar due to an unexpected commitment upon departure. Next time...

What is most impressive is their balance: They are warm without being intrusive, personal without being familiar, and professional without being distant.

This is five-star hospitality in its purest form.

Factory Steak & Lobster: A Destination Restaurant - without question. Located on the first floor, Factory Steak & Lobster is, quite simply, extraordinary.

Skepticism is natural when encountering near-perfect ratings - but in this case, they are justified.

Execution of the food: flawless
Ingredient quality: exceptional
Consistency: unwavering

The menu is focused, and the wine list, though concise, is intelligently curated to cover a broad range of palates and price points. This is not “good for a hotel restaurant.” It is among the best dining experiences I have had anywhere, independent of setting.

Beyond the tangible elements, the hotel demonstrates a clear commitment to guest safety and well-being. Security presence is professional and reassuring without being overbearing. Staff proactively offer guidance on navigating the city safely - an invaluable touch for first-time visitors.

Even small details - such as the ready availability of umbrellas in Bogotá’s dynamic weather - reflect a property that anticipates needs rather than reacting to them.

My takeaway: In the tens of thousands of nights I have spent in hotels around the world, this stay ranks in my top five.

That is not a statement I make lightly.

The JW Marriott Bogotá delivers something increasingly rare in luxury hospitality: a fully aligned experience where systems, people, and culture operate in harmony.

It is not just a place to stay - it is a place that understands what hospitality is meant to be.

Quality hotel in nice neighbourhood
Pros:

Located in a nice part of Bogotá albeit there's not a lot to see or do in the immediate vicinity as a tourist.

Our plush 8th floor suite was huge and included two toilets. It had no views as such and lacked some modern amenities (USB sockets, soft close toilets) but it did include a large bathroom with a full size bathtub.

The on-site gym was quite compact and had a range of Matrix equipment plus a punch bag. In the Spa, on the same floor, there's also a pool, jacuzzi and sauna.

The executive lounge on the 9th floor is a stylish and welcoming place, with happy hour operating between 6-8pm. As with other Marriott hotels in Colombia, you are limited to just two complimentary alcoholic drinks per day per person. The food on offer in the lounge was pretty good with a selection of both hot and cold dishes. Breakfast was available in the lounge or in the main restaurant. We opted to have our breakfast in the main restaurant and it was easily the best breakfast spread we had experienced in Colombia.

Overall, a solid hotel choice if you are in Bogotá.

The Gold Standard in Bogotá
Pros:

This JW Marriott is one of the most consistently excellent properties in the Marriott portfolio.

The hotel carries a beautiful signature scent throughout, immediately creating a refined and welcoming atmosphere. Every detail feels intentional and well managed.

The executive lounge here is exceptional — easily one of the best in the Marriott portfolio. The service is attentive and seamless, and the food offerings are genuinely impressive rather than routine.

Breakfast deserves special mention. It is among the best I’ve experienced at any Marriott worldwide. Fresh-squeezed tangerine juice, elegant tea service, and multiple stations preparing hot items to order create a spread that feels abundant and thoughtfully curated. It sets the tone for a productive day.

Staff are consistently professional, gracious, and genuinely attentive. Bonvoy status is well recognized here, with generous upgrades and beautifully presented welcome gifts.

Rooms are exceptionally well appointed, complete with amenities many hotels have eliminated — including a proper shoe shining kit. Every detail was thought of in this room down to the lighted vanity mirror to a small corner step for the ladies to use to shave. The soaking tubs are large and luxurious, and the rooms are remarkably quiet. Even when events or activity are happening elsewhere in the hotel, the guest rooms remain peaceful and easy to sleep in.

And the bed — hands down the most comfortable hotel bed and pillows I have ever experienced. I travel frequently for work and have stayed at many luxury properties, and this is my favorite hotel bed anywhere. The mattress, linens, and pillow selection are exceptional.

The location is excellent, and the property feels secure and well managed throughout.

I truly love this hotel in Bogotá and return confidently whenever I’m in the city. It represents exactly what the JW Marriott brand should deliver.

Worst Hotel Experience On My 6-Continent Trip
Pros:

Stayed here for one night at the beginning of October as part of a round-the-world trip. This was, by far, the worst hotel experience from that trip. There was a major protest outside which blocked the surrounding streets off with barricades. The hotel failed to mention this or offer alternate accommodations. Taxis could not get in or out of the area all night. My check-in started by lugging my luggage the last few blocks to the hotel through crowds of protesters and riot police in full gear. The room itself was dated. Noise levels from the street carried through the room most of the night. The hotel's only saving grace was a nice pool and spa tub with plenty of jets. Upon check-out, the hotel staff made it sound like the protest was a completely normal occurrence and that I should feel lucky because the Hilton a block over was completely trashed. I could not recommend staying here.
