In dire need of renovation

Cons:

First room offered had no running water in bathroom, second room no bedding , third room lopsided bed and cold shower room! Unable to get water from kitchen!!

Enjoyable comfortable stay, although experience was a bit like 'fawlty towers'!
Pros:

Comfortable spacious room, food from bar restaurant was good.

Cons:

Was very understaffed. The 2 staff on duty were very helpful and friendly but overworked and trying to do everything (reception check-in, bar tender and waiter!) between them.
Building appeared a bit run-down.

Great stay - but avoid the breakfast
Pros:

Lovely location, easy check in, rooms good size, staff lovely, dinner service was fantastic price

Cons:

There was room service advertised in the room but no actual room service. Asked about breakfast at check in, if it would be a buffet or a full breakfast as in being able to order a full breakfast. Was told it was a full breakfast so paid for it in advance. When going to breakfast next morning it was in fact a basic breakfast buffet and pretty low quality, bacon over cooked, no flavour to the mushrooms or beans, only one type of bread for toast and soggy eggs, would have given it a miss if known. Additionally no staff around when I arrived to ask where plates were or where to say I had paid so could get ticked off. Felt very underwhelming and a bit pricey for what you got.

Our stay for the night was fine, we had a meal in the restaurant, no complaints.
Pros:

The room was above expectations. However, the bathroom could have used some mould remover around and on the bath tiles - not a great impression. Also, maybe some bleach in the loo to remove the staining?

Cons:

We invited a guest back for lunch on the next day. There was a wedding in progress - no issues. However, our meal took over an hour to arrive due to the order not getting to the kitchen. We were served individually and basically ate at different times. Our meals were nowhere as good as the previous evening although they were edible. A great shame - we were hoping to have treated our guest to the same quality food and service we had received on the previous evening. This should NOT detract from the staff - they were excellent but clearly stuck in the middle.

Simple, comfortable, and a convenient location for Brecon Beacons
Pros:

Very spacious twin room, good shower, great location in Brecon Beacons, friendly staff, lots of parking.

Cons:

food and drink a little disappointing - limited selection of beers and my pint of lager tasted off. The cooked breakfast was generous but used cheaper ingredients.

The star rating it's listed should be lower not good
Cons:

Found the property quite rundown for the star rating it's listed. With areas needing renavating and maintaining.. The breakfast cups where stained and didnt look clean. But only stayed 1 night.

NO toilet paper!
Pros:

The omelette I had for breakfast.

Cons:

The marketing gurus must have had a chuckle when they named this 'Country House' Hotel. It was probably originally a mine manager's residence, but then converted into a huge miner's convelacense home. I asked the receptionist but they hadn't a clue. The only two members of staff I spoke to were young and new. Probably on minimum wage. What does that tell you? My room was large and comfortable. There was a bidet in the bathroom (not functional) and a shoe polisher on the top landing. A throwback to the 70's? I visited my en-suite bathroom at 5.00 a.m. to discover there was NO toilet paper. So, I had to dress, go down stairs and ask the young man on reception for some. The waitress in the breakfast room was new and showed minimum interest. She obviously had received no training. On bringing me my omelette, she did not clear away the cereal dish etc. The grounds looked unkempt. I shall not return.
