The staff was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, that is where the good rating ends. A/C worked really well for how hot the temp was during our stay.
The room was filthy. Blood and strands of hair on the sheets in both beds in separate bedrooms. Clumps of hair on the carpet and in the bathrooms. Cleaning service came up with a lint brush to collect the hair and dirt. I requested a vacuum because of how dirty the carpet was. There was a dead smashed bug on the shower curtain that was not cleaned or removed.

There was no soap or tissues in the bathroom.
Staff were welcoming and friendly. Facilities were clean and comfortable. Location was convenient for our stay . We’ve stayed many many weeks in a Residence Inn and have always been pleased with our accommodations. Residence Inn San Marcos was no exception. We would recommend. One small detail and suggestion. Please use real metal silverware for your breakfasts! Plastic knives broke and went through about 6 trying to cut a waffle at breakfast!

The room was a great size and the breakfast was delicious
The tub would not drain during a shower. Every time we showered we had dirty water to our ankles. A "fire alarm" went off at 0400 when there wasn't an emergency and it didn't shut off until close to 0500. This was a huge inconvenience, it woke my whole family up and we could not go back to sleep.

Having to pay for parking! It was only $5 but for the fact I'm already paying for a room they want to add parking!that really pissed me off
I stayed for 4 nights at Residence Inn San Diego North/San Marcos and had a really good experience overall. The hotel is pet-friendly, which was very important for me, and the location was perfect since it was close to my licensure exam site.
I especially appreciated how quiet and comfortable the room was—I was able to sleep well and truly relax during a stressful time, which made a big difference. Everything felt convenient and hassle-free throughout my stay.
The only small detail is that housekeeping didn’t clean the room during the 4 nights. I’m not sure if it was because of the sign indicating that there was a pet inside, but it wasn’t a major issue for me.
Overall, a great stay and I would definitely consider coming back.
