Riverside Hotel Southbank

At dinner the seafood basket was well overcooked and likely out of freezer bag so disappointing my partner had schnitzel but without any salad???

2nd b/r no ventilation, no room for bags etc. bathroom very dated, shower rose not working properly. No privacy in courtyard. Woken 7am with tradesmen banging on our ceiling.

Everything. Asked and double checked that the room was the double room with one double bed and one single bed. Only to get there and find out it was only one single double bed. I had to fly out for a work dinner so sent a message asking about beds only for my partner to get back to the room after dinner with our daughter and find somebody had been in the room and that a pull out sofa had been made up. (With no blankets) and a message 2 hours later telling what they had done. Not happy as I asked and verified what beds I would be receiving and i dint receive this. The place was fifthly!! Bathroom floor was sticky and felt like it hasn't been mopped in forever, it had dirty slivers of old soap all over the floor. Dirty spilt drink marks on the table that hadnt been cleaned. TV didn't work. (That was fun with a tired toddler in a strange place and all she wanted was to lay down and watch TV before bed and drown out the noise of the cars going past as it was insanely loud) moving on to the bed room. Went to sit on the bed and it shot out from under me and had me fall on the floor. (Hurt my back) didn't sleep the entire night as the bed was so uncomfortable and hurting my back even more. The light in the bedroom once turned off, began to flicker and continued to flicker all night 😳😤 upon leaving the next morning i told some of my complaints to the person on the desk. For her to seem unfazed and ot really care. Said she would pass along the feed back to the manager but took no details about the complaint. Worst place I've ever stayed at and definitely don't recommend.

Food was dreadful, worst I had ever had in a hotel. Inconsistency in rooms amongst myself and the rest of the party. My bed was okay, another one was awful, the guest said she had bad sleep because of it every night. The fact that the hotel is due to be renovated does not excuse that.

The city view overlooked a highway. It was loud, very loud.
The breakfast buffet was full of stale old food, you knew it was from yesterday or longer ago, it was the worst breakfast I've had in a hotel, ever.

It looked onto traffic and a motorway bridge and was very small

Was initially given a room then was told while I was out that I was accidentally given the wrong room and my belongings had been collected by staff. Which is fair enough mistakes happen and that didn’t bother me, but instead I was moved to a half renovated room that smelt so strongly of paint it gave me a headache, the bathroom still had primer only on the bench, the tiles in the bathroom had also been partially painted over and to top it all off the tv didn’t work. Unfortunately I just had a very painful procedure performed at the hospital so it made my time even more uncomfortable coming back to a room like that. Luckily I was only staying for one night but it was still very disappointing, considering how much it costs per night. I only came back to this hotel as it has typically been reliable although quite some distance from the hospital I receive treatment at. I wouldn’t have been so upset about the room if there was some honesty about the room and potentially a discount due to its current state. If they couldn’t facilitate my stay I would have rather been told and I would have found somewhere else after a refund.

Bed was hard and Jack hammering for the renovations started at 7.30 am

Very noisy. No insulation between the room and the main corridor, In fact there were gaps between the door and the frame so it was extremely noisy with any people coming past. Skip bin compound directly outside the balcony, emptied at 0500 weekdays. Small cockroach’s in the bathroom.

The cover photo doesn't match the reality. We stayed 3 days, bedding was not made during our stay. Room not clean.

Wifi didn’t work at all during our stay , power outage on morning of departure therefore no hot water or lift access .
