We stayed at this hotel for three days and were very positively surprised. I have stayed in several 5-star hotels in Tunisia before, so I have a good basis for comparison. This is definitely one of the better ones.

The hotel is much larger than I expected. Even though it was almost fully booked during our stay, it never felt overcrowded because the resort is so spacious. The pool area is beautiful and very well maintained, and the beach, located just a short walk from the hotel, was clean and stunning.

We booked a Deluxe Sea View room, which was spacious, modern, and offered an amazing view of the sea. At the same time, the hotel has a lovely traditional Arabic style, which gave it a unique atmosphere. The staff were always friendly, welcoming, and eager to make sure guests had a pleasant stay.

The experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The reception service was terrible—the staff were unfriendly, unhelpful, and seemed completely uninterested in assisting guests especially when they have a team of staff which are called ‘guest service’ who don’t help at all and instead direct you to manny other members of staff. It was difficult to get any clear information, and simple questions were met with poor communication and a lack of professionalism.

The waiting time was unacceptable. Despite arriving on time, I was left waiting for an excessively long period without any explanation or updates. The delays made the entire experience frustrating and stressful, and it felt like there was no respect for guests’ time.

That said, the animation team was absolutely amazing and truly made the stay much more enjoyable. They were energetic, friendly, and worked hard to create a fun atmosphere every day. A special thanks to Leo, who stood out for being welcoming, entertaining, and making everyone feel included. His enthusiasm and positive attitude were a real highlight of the trip.

I would also like to give special recognition to Adian from the kitchen, who was always friendly, hardworking, and provided excellent service. His kindness and professionalism were greatly appreciated and made a positive difference during our stay and making special time to take our group of 8 around the buffet making it clear which foods are vegetarian and okay for us to eat, whilst also making special requests to the pasta chefs to clean pots, pans and cutlery when cooking our food.

Overall, while the animation team—especially Leo—and Adian from the kitchen deserve recognition for their outstanding efforts, the poor reception service and excessive waiting times seriously affected the overall experience.

Brilliant hotel, this is the 2nd time we’ve been and will be coming back in again later this year. Staff are brilliant and can’t do enough for you

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Iberostar Royal Mansour Mahdia.

The reception team deserves special recognition. Check-in was smooth, and we received our room immediately upon arrival, which was greatly appreciated after the journey.

Our family room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Housekeeping did a great job throughout our stay.

The restaurant offered a wide variety of food, with good quality and something for everyone. The staff, both in the restaurant and at the bars, were always attentive, friendly, and happy to help.

The swimming pool is very nice, and the entertainment team works hard to create a fun atmosphere throughout the day. We also loved the ice cream hut, which was a big hit with the kids. There is also a snack bar open until 5:00 p.m., which is very convenient for a quick bite between meals. The only downside is that the staff there were noticeably less welcoming than the rest of the hotel team.

Overall, the resort offers a pleasant and relaxing holiday experience.

There are, however, a few points that could be improved:

- The gardens are heavily infested with ants, so it's best to place your sunbed away from the grass.
- Coffee is only available from vending-style machines, which was disappointing for coffee lovers like me. A proper espresso machine would make a big difference.
- The outdoor parking area is quite small. Since it was full, I was asked to park my car on the street opposite the hotel.
- The evening entertainment shows are average. That said, this seems to be fairly common in many hotels in Tunisia.

Despite these minor drawbacks, we had a great stay and would happily recommend this hotel, especially for families looking for good service, comfortable rooms, and excellent food.

Came here with my partner for a week and today we are leaving. Since arriving we have been looked after immensely by the staff and everyone at the hotel. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they always have a smile on their faces.

From the waiters round the pool, to the bar staff in the evening who remembered your drink to the animation team who work tirelessly to ensure everyone has a great holiday, they really do work hard.

I’m a coeliac and was a little nervous about eating after reading some of the reviews but I need not have worried. Every meal time I was offered for special gf pasta or pizza and if I did not want that then the head waiter Majid would take me round the buffet and show me exactly what I could eat. Not once did I go hungry.

The icing on the cake quite literally is that I celebrated my birthday whilst here and the whole team went out of their way to make it special singing happy birthday to me, decorating a table for us in the restaurant and even providing what is possibly the best gf cake I have ever eaten ❤️

One minor critisicm of our trip, the reps trying to sell us tours by the pool were very persistent even after telling them no they still tried each day.

Would I recommend this hotel as a coeliac? 100% yes.

We had an incredible stay at this hotel. The food was excellent, with a wide variety of delicious options every day. The entertainment was great, and the atmosphere was lively, fun, and welcoming. What made our experience truly special was the hotel staff. The entire team was exceptionally friendly, warm, and always willing to help with a smile. Their kindness, professionalism, and dedication made us feel at home throughout our stay. We highly recommend this hotel and look forward to coming back in the future. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We’ve just returned from an 11‑night stay at Royal El Mansour, and overall we had a fantastic holiday. We would absolutely return.

The beach is beautiful, with plenty of sunbeds, and it looks as though the hotel is extending this area even further. That said, many guests still “reserve” beds early in the morning with towels — both on the beach and around the pool — so it’s worth being aware of this. As some days we were left scratching our heads waiting for people to leave to secure two sunbeds together!

Nuba Beach is currently under reconstruction, and we were advised it should reopen towards the end of summer. So are unable to comment on this.

There is a separate beach bar offering excellent service. Fares, in particular, was outstanding — incredibly kind, attentive, and always making sure our drinks were topped up throughout our stay. He truly went above and beyond. Niamh was also very friendly!

The customer service across the hotel is exceptional. From the warm welcome at reception to every interaction throughout our stay, the staff were consistently friendly, professional, and a real credit to the hotel.

Rooms are spacious, comfortable, and cleaned/restocked daily. The minibar is replenished with water each day, though fizzy drinks are only provided on arrival. The Iberostar website notes that air conditioning is switched on from 15 June; before that date it was turned on for a few hours in the evenings due to the warmer weather, which we appreciated. However, even after the 15th, it didn’t seem to be fully operational. Particularly in the mornings when it could be quite hot getting ready. We did have a street facing room and did not experience any noise disruption at all.

There are two additional bars — the lobby bar and the pool bar. Most guests spend their evenings in the lobby bar, which is a lovely space, though the outdoor seating area is limited and we often struggled to find a spot.

The entertainment team clearly work tirelessly to keep guests engaged throughout the day and evening. Unlike some hotels that bring in external performers, the in‑house team run all the evening shows themselves. While the “wow factor” isn’t always there, their effort and enthusiasm are obvious. We even played bingo one night and won a camel ride plus free photos from the hotel photographer, which was a fun surprise.

The food is plentiful, tasty, and varied enough that we never went hungry. There are reliable staples each day alongside some welcome changes throughout the week.

It’s worth noting that there is a 50 TND deposit for towels, payable and returned in local currency only. There is a local currency exchange shop who were happy to swap TND for GBP at a very good rate. There is a cash point just outside the hotel - there is a small fee of around 14 TND to withdraw.

The transfer from the airport took around three hours, so it’s something to keep in mind before setting off.

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay and would happily return. A huge thank‑you to all the amazing staff who helped make our holiday so enjoyable.
