Room was cosy & clean. We were able to bring our dog which was a bonus. We did not have breakfast or evening meal. Looked like there was some good entertainment on - possibly from a coachload that were having fun singing sea shanties but we left them to it!!!
N/A
The staff are excellent – genuinely 5-star service. They are friendly, courteous, and always willing to help.
The breakfast is decent for the £13 per person price. The continental option was particularly good; the buffet is basic (breads, fruit, juices, tea/coffee) but acceptable.
The location is the hotel’s biggest strength. The beach is literally a few minutes’ walk away and absolutely beautiful. It’s a shame the hotel’s poor condition ruins the overall experience and mood.
The photos really don’t do justice to the actual condition of this hotel – and unfortunately not in a good way. This property is not suitable for families or professionals.
The corridors are extremely narrow (barely 2.5 feet wide) with old creaking wooden floors. The rooms feel dated and unclean despite fresh linen – there’s a persistent humid, musty smell throughout, and visible mould around the windows. The bathrooms are tiny, to the point where using the toilet is genuinely uncomfortable (very little legroom).
The single lift is also very small, which makes getting to the upper floors with luggage, small children, or mobility issues quite difficult.
The positives:
One more thing worth mentioning: the hotel has a strong stale/pub-like smell right at the entrance, which is quite off-putting (and I travel a lot, so I’ve stayed in many places).
If you’re looking for comfort, cleanliness, and a pleasant stay, I would look elsewhere. Only consider this hotel if the amazing beach access is your absolute priority and you can overlook the rest.
Beautiful spot overlooking Fistral beach. Lovely staff, and ideal for a couple of nights stay.
Everything was fine, but if I had to find something to criticize, I'd say pool changing rooms didn't lock.
Its out of town so be prepared for a walk/cab ride. Overall absolutely fine for a basic get away
The bed was comfy and the view was amazing. The evening meal was good at the bistro.
The room was very basic with cheap furniture.
The hair dryer was antiquated and when turned on it blew the fuses.
The electrics for the sockets blew fuses in the evening so we had no lamps, no TV and no way of charging our phones. The night Watchman didn't fix it or do anything to get it fixed. We thought this was a fire hazard as something on the 2nd floor had caused this but no investigation to find out what.
Breakfast was poor quality.
The stay was not value for money and we wouldn't stay again.
Hotel was good. The staff were pleasant and helpful.
The weather but that's not hotels fault
Friendly lady on reception.
Happy chap on the bar.
- Shower head was missing the rubber seal inside so ran water out of the connection more than the shower head itself - chap on reception said he’d take a look but probably couldn’t fix it - he didn’t.
- Toilet was sooo close to the wall it made for a very uncomfortable visit.
- 2 single beds pushed together - one bed was higher than the other. Both mattress were soft and uncomfortable.
- Very noisy! Everyone else’s door being shut can be heard throughout the evening. A good 10-15mm gap between the door and the floor - I rolled up a towel and stuffed it which helped slightly. Could hear downstairs also.
- No lock on the inside of the door.
- overall quite dated hotel
Location was perfect for us
Not really the property but the guests in the room next door had a party until 3am
Zimmer sehr klein und extrem hellhörig ( hörte den Zimmernachbar schnarchen)
The hotel facilities were good not much going on entertainment or night life
My towel n few souveneres went missing
Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, great view of fistral beech from third floor. Clean and comfortable room. Plenty of parking during our stay. Good pool.. friendly staff.
Cant think of anything that was important. Bit of queue for the one lift.
