Great location, disappointing room comfort
Pros:

The Grand Hotel Ortigia has several strong points, starting with its excellent location. It is within easy walking distance of both the harbour and Ortigia’s historic centre, making it a very convenient base for exploring Syracuse on foot.

The service was consistently warm, welcoming and professional, and the staff were helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was another highlight: very good quality, with a broad selection of both sweet and savoury options, catering well to different tastes and dietary preferences.

Cons:

The rooms have very limited storage and wardrobe space, which can be inconvenient for anything more than a short stay.

More importantly, I would strongly recommend avoiding rooms on the second floor. The hotel restaurant is located directly above, and the sound insulation is inadequate. We could clearly hear chairs and furniture being moved across the restaurant floor late at night and again very early in the morning, which significantly affected our sleep.

The other major issue was the air conditioning. The system in our room appeared old and was unable to cool the room adequately during the August heat. Despite raising the issue with the front desk, it could not be resolved. The hotel eventually provided a portable fan, but it was quite noisy and obviously not an adequate substitute for properly functioning air conditioning in Sicily during the summer.

The hotel is stunning, high-level 5 stars. Excellent food, beautiful and clean rooms. The hotel staff is polite and pleasant. The location is perfect, right on the promenade in the old town area, close to all the beautiful places. Highly recommended!!!"

Historia impressa em todos os cantos
Pros:

hotel muito lindo e cheio de historia, a sensaçao é de que estavamos em uma mansao antiga super preservada. Ao chegar no hotel, nos supreendemos com educaçao e gentileza de Fortunato. O hotel tem praia propria mas é preciso agendar horario de ida e volta pois fica fora de ilha e o caminho é feito de barco, que mostra a ilha de uma linda perpectiva.

Beautiful Hotel and excellent staff!
Pros:

I liked the atmosphere in the hotel, beautifully decorated. The location was awesome. the staff treated us splendidly. we had a massage at the hotel SPA and it was absolutely wonderful. Siracuse and the island of Ortigia, where the hotel is located is beautiful.
