A very enjoyable stay. Large well furnished room, very clean, bath room large with stand alone shower, plenty of hot water and fluffy towels plus toiletries. Breakfast excellent a great deal of choice.

Great location, excellent facilities, friendly and professional staff.
The spa facilities were excellent and so was the breakfast.
The Rise evening meal was somewhat disappointing. We had to wait nearly an hour for a just a main course.
The food was expensive and fairly ordinary.

Breakfast was great lots of choices. Full English, continental had a different fruit shot every morning to try. Staff were lovely couldn’t do enough for you. Doormen stored our bags for us when we got there before our rooms were ready. Also stored them before our train on my the way home. Doormen very informative helping us find where we needed to go. Could not fault the staff. Room was clean lovely bathroom . Complimentary biscuits bottled water tea etc. lovely bathroom shampoo etc .
Location is great 5 mins walk from the train station. Also got on the city wall walk from here.10 mins walk into town
Everything in the hotel is exceptional. The staff are so lovely and helpful. The food and drink are amazing.

The Grand is always our first choice when we stay in York. Always 10 out of 10 in the above categories! We now have our own favourite room and the staff even oblige to organise that for us when we visit. Now that's what I call service! The staff in the Grand go out of their way with a smile to help us in any way possible.
Hotel lighting in the rooms always drives me mad! Especially for reading in bed.
From the moment of arrival until departure everything was wonderful. Being greeted on arrival and with the room ready early it was a great start. A beautiful room and en-suite were complimented by a lovely lounge area for relaxing.
The refurbished spa was very nice too, with the staff very friendly and helpful to make the experience a calm and relaxing time.
Breakfast was superb, with a fantastic selection of food and drinks served in a wonderful lounge style room by courteous, attentive staff.

Bar area was very welcoming
They took full payment ( over £1000) plus £50 per day supplement without asking on day 2 of the stay
£50 supplement (£150) wasn’t returned for 5 working days!!
The wines served in the Legacy Restaurant were under £10 a bottle (we know the wine market) and yet they were charging that for a 100ml glass - shocking inflation
It’s a 5 star hotel and there was a huge dark crack in my bathroom basin
Despite leaving a privacy tag on my my door housekeeping still came into the room

Was spacious and clean. Overlooked trash bins but that’s ok. Loved the separate water closet and the history of the building. Found the taps confusing- difficult to get cold water
