What was not to like
Nothing, everything was perfect

Wasn’t keen on the evening meal plus no atmosphere or warmth in the dining room
Good location, not far to walk from the station and to the city. Staff are attentive and go the extra mile to help. Room was spacious and well equipped with attention to detail such as a night light in the bathroom. Beautiful fittings and furniture, very comfortable. Lots of good storage space. Very nice Molton Brown toiletries. The Rise is a really good restaurant, amazing breakfast and great for dinner too. Bar area is lovely to relax in, and fabulous cocktails. The Spa looked really lovely but didn't partake this visit.
Water pressure in the sink and shower was rather lacking, although I realise this is aimed at saving the planet so probably can't be helped, but I do feel that a more powerful shower would be much quicker and so I'm not sure it saves much water. In any case, it's not a deal breaker, as everything else was fabulous.
We stayed in York to celebrate our engagement and the staff could not be more helpful. The receptionist was very welcoming and upon learning about the reason for our stay, sent us complimentary wine which was perfect!
The room was so clean and tidy, and very quiet given the view of York overlooking the traffic.
