Staff were helpful. Service was excellent. Food was very good.
Some areas seemed a little ‘tired’ and could maybe do with a bit of redecoration
Beautiful calm surroundings, friendly helpful staff, helped with storing a bicycle, welcoming atmosphere, comfortable room, good restaurant.
Check-in was a little slow as desk not always staffed.
Setting
Rooms need updating
Beds, staff response to issues
Poor Wi-Fi connection in bedroom, iPads could not connect, broken plug-in sink, shaver plug not working
Generally ok
Food and drink expensive for the quality
Lovely staff, excellent service. Good breakfast and evening meal.
Ample parking facilities.
Room was a bit tired, but acceptable
What a venue, it was perfect for the wedding we attended, great rooms, great breakfast and great facilaties. The staff were the icing on the cake. Special shout out to Sharron, Millie and Matt for being absolute legends!!
Wonderful old style hotel with great staff and service, very good food and rooms. plenty of parking
Not a lot
Great location, good breakfast, comfortable bar.
The whole place is very tired and in need of a facelift. The pillows were not comfortable and the mattress was too soft for my liking.
Clean comfortable bed . Check in and checkout quick and easy.
Room was too hot even though we had asked for 'no heating'. Uneven floor in bedroom. Corridor noise during night. Shower water temp difficult to adjust.
Shortages at breakfast - juice, smoked salmon , brown sauce.
Fabulous location off set from main roads so no noise from traffic. The grounds are very maintained and lots of wildlife, birds and grey squirrels.
Breakfast was superb loads of options on the menu. I had an evening meal too again lots of choices offered and reasonably priced. The restaurant seemed very popular with non guests so booking is advised. Room was pleasant.
Beautiful grounds
Outside of the building is well kept
On arrival it was obvious there was an event on - in this case a funeral. I was unable to hear the receptionist due to the noise from the group! In the bar area just adjacent to reception- not the best welcome.
I had booked dinner in the restaurant- the food was ok - fish and chips and mussels, but I was placed under the speakers so in addition to the music playing (not relaxing) every time the door between the restaurant and event opened the music blared through. People were regularly walking through the restaurant from the event (a couple appeared inebriated). This was not a pleasant atmosphere to eat in. To the extent I cancelled the following days booking.
My room appeared to be above the event (109) which meant sleep was impossible due to the bass until 11.50. A very disturbed night. There was no mention of the event and the position of the room when I booked it - only a week earlier.
The bed was comfortable to put a positive slant on the situation. And the room relatively clean.
I was able to block light coming from under the door with a pillow!
I had to be away early in the morning- breakfast at the weekend is not served until 8am however I was promised a continental breakfast - this turned out to be toast, juice and a pot of tea that the lady managed to pour over the floor and table - I think it was the end of her shift and she did mop it up. The selection of cereals on display were in open bowels with no covers and no idea of how long they had been out! Not something I expect to see post Covid. The selection was poor with no muesli or granola. Suffice to say I didn’t have any.
Again a positive point when I mentioned the disturbed night and asked if there was another event on (indeed there was) and therefore asked to be moved - this was facilitated for me and my things were moved. I would congratulate the receptionist on her actions.
The new room (room2) appears to have had a lot of money spent on the decor.
