Nice cozy spaces, enjoyed the restaurant several times.
We particularly enjoyed interacting with Abby at the front desk!
Unfortunately, we were there during a 3-day bout of weather over 90 degrees Fahrenheit. There wasn’t much the hotel could do about that problem but it was terribly hot!
The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot.
I was kept waiting at an empty check-in desk for at least 20 minutes, during which time a member of staff refused to serve me a drink (it was a very hot day). When the receptionist finally arrived she said she was cancelling my booking because of my "language". I asked her what language I used that was unacceptable and she said "nobody has ever spoken to her like that." Again, I asked - like what? I hadn't sworn or raised my voice, I was obviously unhappy about the lack of service but that doesn't strike me as abusive behaviour?
In the end all she could say was that it was my "tone" that was unacceptable and that in 35 years she had never cancelled a customer booking. She demanded an apology (still without specifying what I was apologising for) before chcking me in.
In 35 years of working in hospitality the most difficult cutomer she met was a woman with a foreign name and a prominent Star of David necklace? Draw your own conclusions.
To cap it all, after I checked out someone at the hotel charged my card an additional £120 (the booking was prepaid.) They didn't inform me or apologise, I found out when my bank blocked my card, and had to ring them multiple times before getting an explanation.
I don't know if I've been staying in hotels for 35 years or not, but this was definitely a stand-out negative experience in that time.
The Hotel was absolutely beautiful and the service exceptional.
Nothing
From parking check-in dining and check out excellent

There was nothing we didn’t like.

Location and parking were great .rooms nice
Restaurant /bar staff .chatting ,waiting over 5 minutes at bar while they finished chat
Ottimo albergo a Amesbury vicino a Stonehenge.
The reception staff were extremely kind and helpful explaining because of the extreme outside temperatures the rooms were rather warm but they would do everything possible to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We were supplied a fan in the room which was definitely needed overnight and unlimited bottled water was offered.
Our room was beautifully decorated but a window blind was missing which necessitated closing the curtains changing.
We received a friendly welcome at breakfast but the buffet food available was not explained. The staff didn't appear to refresh pastries or fruit bowl and there was no fresh fruit available. Our cooked breakfast took quite a long time to arrive and by the time we'd eaten our pot of tea was cold.
