Restaurant provided very good sumptuous breakfast. beautiful location with panoramique view and green gardens. Staff very friendly!
For me the best place to stay visiting Ascona Jazz Festival.
Due to the heat wave, the fan provided is not enough for a good night sleep. The shared bathroom is only cleaned once a day after check out, so have to tolerate other guests who are untidy.
Es ist kein Hotel, es geht alles in Richtung Sanatorium/ Krankenhaus und entsprechend roch das ganze Haus und auch die Bettwäsche/Hand und Badetücher!

Hotel im historischen Bauhaustyl praktisch mit simpler Eleganz. Tolle Lage mit super Aussicht auf den See. Der damit verbundente Weg über knapp 500 Treppenstufen (15 Minuten) ins Dorf Ascona lohnt sich und ist eine gute Fitnessaktivität. Der Mitarbeiter beim Check-in war sehr freundlich und "welcoming". Dazu ein hilfreicher portugiesischer Nachtportier, der uns nach Mitternacht noch ein Ventilator geben konnte, obwohl ein anderer Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption am frühen Abend noch meinte, es gäbe keinen verfügbaren Ventilator mehr.
Da ohne Klimaanlage (historisches Hotel), sollten die Zimmer bei Außentemperaturen von über 30 Grad standardmäßig mit Ventilatoren ausgestattet sein (wie auf booking.com beschrieben), dies insbesondere da die Betten mit Matratzen für "kuschelige Wärme" im Sommer eher unpassend sind.

the restaurant is expensive. A range of budget options would be preferable, especially in a place with this history.

C'était noté dans les équipements, mais je n'avais pas fait attention et j'étais surprise qu'il n'y avais pas de climatisation.
Das Hotel ist idyllisch oberhalb des Lago Maggiore gelegen.
Es hat einen eigenen Park und eine sehr interessante Historie.
Im angeschlossenen Restaurant kann man sehr gut speisen.
