I liked how it was close by to the beach and to convenience stores. Gym facilities were top notch.
Not too much amenities. The restaurant was only open from 10am to 9pm and didn’t serve breakfast.
Everything
Nothing
First, no breakfast options at all? When did this need to be something we had to confirm when booking with Hilton? And if no breakfast credits as a Diamond member there was no benefit to staying here. I travel all the time and this was the worst my status has been treated. Late check out? Nope. Take off amenity charge to make up for my inconveniences? Nope. Stay here if you don't have status as you're treated just like us. Do I sound entitled? I should since that's the entire reason to stay within the same hotel group.
We have a suite but bed & sectional sofa are on the ground! WTH! Sleep has been a nightmare. No laundry amenities for owners. This is by far the worst lodging I've experienced in all travels. No breakfast? Really?
The Modern Honolulu is located right on the end of the beach, just off the marina. They have a nice beach walk from the pool area which takes you down to the beach in an easy, 5-minute walk. There are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. Our room was comfortable if a bit outdated (we were on a floor that has not yet been remodeled). Unfortunately, there seemed to be no noise control at all- even though we were nowhere near the elevator, we could hear it every time it when up or down, 24 hours a day. Our first night was the loudest due to a private event being held at the adult pool.
The facilities themselves were very pleasant. We spent a lot of time at the pool, which was never crowded. The adult only pool is only a few inches deep throughout, so we didn't spend time there, but the regular pool rarely had children. It was a very relaxing, quiet space to sunbathe and swim. We were able to order food and beverages delivered poolside which was convenient as well.
The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Beware of the time share salespeople- they are very pushy and don't like to take no for an answer.
Modern Hilton Vacation Club – Great Views, But Lacking Some Basic Comforts
We stayed in Room 1211 at Modern Hilton Vacation Club, and the room itself was very nice. The highlight was definitely the view and the two balconies, which made it enjoyable to relax and take in the scenery.
That said, the unit lacked several basic amenities that would have made our stay much more comfortable.
1. No real drinking glasses or wine glasses. We ended up drinking wine from paper cups, which wasn't exactly the vacation experience we were hoping for.
2. Only two bath towels were provided, and since there was no housekeeping service during our four-night stay, we had to reuse the same towels the entire time. Additional towels or a towel exchange would have been appreciated.
3. The on-site restaurant was convenient, and the staff throughout the property were friendly and welcoming.
4. The TV experience was disappointing. In today's world, it's surprising to find a TV without access to any streaming services. After a day out, being limited to old cable movies wasn't ideal.
5. No bidet. We've stayed at other Hilton Vacation Club properties that offered bidets, so we missed having that feature.
6 Poor bathroom design. There wasn't a towel holder near the shower, so the nearest place to hang a towel was about five feet away, making it inconvenient after showering.
Overall, the room was older, although painted and updated a bit; it was comfortable, and had beautiful views, but the lack of a few thoughtful amenities made the stay feel less polished than other Hilton Vacation Club properties we've visited. With a few small improvements, this could easily become an excellent place to stay.
I liked that it was close enough to most of my activities, we rented a car but public transportation could have been a great option.
I didn’t like that the private pools bar wasn’t working, they said they had a spa but they did not. I wish they served breakfast in the morning, and I also really wish I didn’t have to pay $36 for parking a night.
Location was perfect. You could walk across the beach up to waikiki no issues. Hotel room was great - clean, spacious and with a balcony with partial views to the sea. Also, hotel installations were excellent. We enjoyed a lot the pool area. Lastly, we took 1 day of parking and it was easy to access and we had no issues finding a spot.
Overall everything was really good. If I have to be picky, pool bar drinks were overpriced outside of happy hour. All the rest was great!
We stayed here a couple of years ago in a one bedroom on the south end overlooking the ocean and loved it!!
BUT….this time we were placed in a regular room (our regular time share is a one bedroom unit. We had to pay extra to upgrade to Hawaii but they only had the regular room so not an equal exchange).
What was HORRIBLE was the elevator noise!! You could hear it every time it went up or down — even with the TV on (and we were THREE rooms away from it — even the lady four rooms away complained too) And Other people were complaining as well. They really need to inform people before they book here! I will never stay here again unless we can get a room FAR FAR AWAY from the elevator.
The property was a good place to be. It was good walk distance to stores the beach restaurants
Maybe some of the flies
The location is nice but it was the most uncomfortable bed that i’ve ever (barely) slept in. I have been so tired walking around during the day and was extremely sleepy during the night but I could not get any sleep because the bed was as hard as a box spring. We also had issues with the water temperature in the shower as it was boiling hot, would not even cool down even if we’ve turned it nearly off. Would not stay here again.
