The breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice. The location is good and very quiet, parking ideal as it is next to the lodge. Stone Villa is clean and has all the things you need for your stay
The only thing is the staff maybe could use a bit more training, but were polite and friendly, we weren't asked on arrival a time for breakfast and some of the time there is no one around, otherwise a nice place to stay
We were impressed with the Hotel from reception to our room. Lovely and clean, very well presented.
The car park is a bit tight especially if there are a few large vehicles parked. The large waste bin at the car park entrance made it difficult. We had to reverse in.
Great location...20 minute steady walk into City centre. Arrived early and we were allowed to leave the car in their carpark.
Room was lovely, although a bit dark. Room was very warm, luckily there was a desktop fan stored in the wardrobe. Iron, ironing board provided, hair dryer provided.
Coffee machine provided and also a kettle with a great selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate etc
Very pleased with the room we were allocated
On arriving in the dining room for breakfast... used tables were still dirty and uncleared...we stood and waited a few minutes waiting to be welcomed and allocated a table... another guest said we could sit wherever we wanted... we then helped ourselves to some fruit juice and waited for a waitress to ask for coffee, she arrived at our table asked if we wanted a cooked breakfast ( this was an extra cost), my husband had a full English. A cafetiere was delivered to us, my husband asked about the continental breakfast, to which we were told it was on display.... a plate on a shelf with what I can only describe as looked like a few squares or bread and butter pudding!!. A bowl with a bit of fruit in that had seen better days... on another shelf an array of cereals, a bowl with some yoghurt in and another bowl with some fruit salad in.
I asked the waitress if it was possible to have some toast... this arrived (cold), a small pot of jam, no Marmalade (they didn't have any)
Another couple arrived and sat at the next table, the Gentleman wasn't impressed with the continental breakfast either... he asked if there was any croissants etc... NO was the reply, but I think there might be some Pain au Chocolat replied the waitress.
We weren't asked if everything was okay or if we wanted more coffee or toast etc
The 2nd morning of our 2 night stay... breakfast was exactly the same... uncleared tables, cold toast but a small pot of honey as well as the jam
VERY disappointed with the continental breakfast... for paying £400 for 2 nights stay and 1 full English breakfast...
We've stayed in many hotels and b&b's over the years offering both a cooked breakfast and continental breakfast... continental breakfasts have always consisted of... cold meats, cold cheeses, selection of breads and preserves, Danish Pastries, plain and fruit yoghurts, fresh fruit etc
Although the disappointment in the breakfast we couldn't fault the accommodation
The room was comfortable, if a little gloomy, with a comfortable bed and a very nice bathroom. The hotel is very conveniently situated for a visit to Chester. You can walk into the centre - though there are buses - and the neighbourhood is well supplied with some nice shops and places to eat.
The staff, when we encountered them, were pleasant but we hardly saw them except at breakfast which meant the hotel didn't feel very welcoming. You could summon someone to the reception desk but that's not the same as being greeted on arrival and having someone available whom you can ask about local things.
We were disappointed in the continental breakfast which was included. The yoghurt and fruit salad were nice but the menu promised pastries and a 'selection of artisan breads'. There were some pastries but I wouldn't consider banana cake to qualify as such! There were no artisan breads, and toast, which you had to ask for, was one slice of very ordinary bread per person. I'm sure you could have asked for more but it would be nice to have this offered. It all felt a bit grudging.
Rooms were lovely and cosy. Bed really comfortable.
Parking is too tight at the property. Cooked breakfast is now chargeable. In a previous stay it was included.
Quality of accomodation
Friendly helpful staff
Quiet location
It was a quiet location. The cooked breakfast was very nice additionally our room and bathroom were clean.
The bedroom was described as a superior room however for a 5 star hotel it was a standard room. The bathroom sink emitted a constant rotten egg smell. The shower fixture was very loose so the shower head kept falling out and had to be held during the time taken to shower. The breakfast was described as amazing but there was very little choice of fruit, no cheese, ham or artisanal bread anywhere to be seen. Again very limited choice of pastries just little squares of cake. Guests had to ask for croissants to be told there weren't any that morning. There was no personnel service as never anyone on reception, only ever saw the breakfast staff, ie. 2 girls. Finally the hotel banner directly above the hotel entrance was ragged and looked very forlorn.
A very nice property in a very convenient location. All the facilities were good quality and staff were very friendly. Nothing to fault my stay. Would stay here again.
I liked everything.
A warm welcome from Amy and very comfy room added up to a fine stop in wonderful Chester. Thoughtful/plush details here and there, convenient parking, and the more elevated breakfast make this a great choice. By being in a more residential area, it was a quiet retreat for a good night's sleep.
That said, note the distance from the historic town center if you prefer not to walk too much. We didn't mind -- we are walkers! But you'll want to allow time for that when making plans.
Location was walking distance from town. Great parking.
Great place to stay.
Ran out of breakfast range and there was nothing for later breakfast guests. The room top up didn't top up the coffee and milk. We stayed 3 nights with no extra coffee. Also had to request more toilet rolls
Location
Not a hotel It’s a glorified B&B
Extra charges for cooked breakfast
Great location, room clean and loved the breakfast.
Nothing to add
Lovely overnight stay at Stone Villa. Spotless and quiet - what more could you want on a very busy Chester races weekend.
No negatives only positives.
Good car psrk right in front. Easy self check-in and access into property n room. Good cooked full breakfast. Quiet room.
Better ventilation needed for room and toilet. Black mould at the base of the shower enclosure door in Room 8. Lack of staff to help with luggage up/down the stairs. Shower pressure could be better and temperature should be more consistent.
