Amazing staff service!!! Lovely hotel.
Pros:

Beautiful hotel. Great location. Amazing staff.

Cons:

Didn’t love the beds or pillows. All too soft. Even my 18 year old daughter felt the same . The bathtub was downright dangerous. Shower was tiny and not enjoyable.

Luxury Pricing Without Luxury Service
Pros:

We recently stayed at Four Seasons Denver for three nights to celebrate a birthday and wedding anniversary. While our stay was not terrible, it also wasn't remotely worth the premium price. Quite honestly, the experience felt much closer to an InterContinental or other upscale chain hotel than a property carrying the Four Seasons name.

Throughout the weekend, we encountered repeated service inconsistencies. Saturday breakfast arrived with cold eggs and sausage that had to be sent back. Sunday breakfast involved long waits, inexperienced staff, and inconsistent policies about what was included with the menu from one day to the next. Luxury hotels are built on consistency, and that was simply lacking.

The pool experience was even more disappointing. We waited for pool chairs while staff cleaned them, only to be told that several empty loungers were being reserved for Four Seasons (HOA?) board members. Hearing that board members were given priority over paying guests left a very poor impression. A supervisor later apologized and explained they were short-staffed while also accommodating large numbers of non-hotel guests using the restaurant and pool. If staffing is already stretched, outside guests should not come at the expense of hotel guests.

To make matters worse, the pool bar closed at 5:00 PM despite the pool remaining busy, and the atmosphere quickly became chaotic as children took over the pool with little intervention from staff.

To their credit, housekeeping and evening turndown service were exceptional. The hotel also recognized my birthday and anniversary with champagne, cake, engraved Four Seasons pens, and thoughtful follow-up from the Guest Experience team and pool manager. Those gestures were genuinely appreciated and reflected well on the individuals who cared enough to make things right.

The problem is that isolated acts of excellent hospitality cannot overcome an overall experience that consistently fell short of the Four Seasons standard.

During a recent stay at Shangri-La Istanbul, we were greeted by name every morning at breakfast. At Four Seasons Denver, the same employee asked for our room number each morning of our stay. It seems like a small detail, but luxury hospitality is defined by those details.

At two to three times the cost of many excellent luxury hotels—including brands like InterContinental—I expected a noticeably elevated experience. I simply didn't receive one. Four Seasons Denver is a good hotel, but "good" isn't enough when you're paying Four Seasons prices. Based on this stay, I would have a difficult time recommending it over other luxury brands that offer a comparable—or even better—experience for significantly less money.

Waiting for pool area
Pros:

The check-in experience was excellent, and the staff at the front desk were welcoming and professional. However, if your intention is to actually enjoy the pool and resort amenities during your stay, you may be very disappointed.

Access to the pool area required being placed on a waiting list, with multiple guests waiting ahead of us while others continued to arrive hoping to enjoy the facilities included with their stay. For a property at the Four Seasons level and the premium nightly rates guests pay, this experience is difficult to understand.

Following the recent expansion, I would have expected the resort to have adequately planned for guest demand and ensured sufficient capacity for its amenities. Guests should not have to spend part of their vacation waiting for access to the pool.

While the accommodations and check-in experience were excellent, the lack of availability and assistance regarding the pool significantly impacted the overall experience and did not meet the expectations associated with the Four Seasons brand.

Pool service fees - disservice to staff
Pros:

We had a wonderful experience at the Four Seasons pool and spa. The staff was excellent, and we fully expected premium pricing for food and drinks in that setting.

What was disappointing was the automatic 20% service fee added to every order. This practice does a disservice to your staff. When guests already see a 20% charge on the bill, many are understandably reluctant to add an additional gratuity, regardless of the quality of service.

In our case, we typically tip 25% or more for great service. However, when a 20% service fee is already included, it’s difficult to justify adding another 20–25% on top of that. As a result, your staff may actually receive less in gratuities than they otherwise would have.

It’s difficult to believe that 100% of that fee goes directly to employees, and the lack of transparency creates frustration. If the true cost of operating the pool restaurant is higher, I would rather see those costs reflected honestly in the menu prices. When I choose to order a $30 salad, I’m choosing a $30 salad—not expecting an additional 20% service fee plus the expectation of a 20% tip on top of that (be real it’s expected).

The staff were great and deserve to be compensated fairly. I would encourage Four Seasons to either be fully transparent about where the service fee goes or simply incorporate those costs into the listed prices.

Beware the aggressive knocks at checkout
Pros:

Positives: I came here for a work meeting and stayed 3 nights. I was impressed by the room service staff (esp Erin who went above and beyond) and the staff in the restaurant. I had their high tea one day and it was a fun experience. The rooms are spacious and updated. The lobby is bright, modern, and welcoming.

Negatives: So why only 3 stars? All of those positives were negated by a series of negative experiences on the last day.

I called around 6:15 a.m. to ask whether a late checkout might be possible and was told to call back in an hour. When I called back a couple times 1 hour later, no one at the front desk answered. I have never stayed at a Four Seasons where the phone wasn't answered immediately no matter the time of day. It didn't really seem like a big deal as an isolated issue though. Since a 12 p.m. checkout is already more generous than most hotels, and I assumed the hotel was full, I decided to check out at the designated time despite some scheduling challenges.

I ended up running slightly behind but was walking out the door at 12:12 p.m when there was loud banging on my room door. As a woman traveling alone, an unexpected, aggressive knock is unsettling. When I opened the door (which I really should not have done but was already walking out), there was a man outside holding a piece of paper and looking down at it. He did not identify himself, and he was not dressed like the other hotel staff, so initially I was unsure who he was. He asked if I was planning to check out that day. I said "yes" while walking out of the room past him because I felt unsafe. He simply said “okay” and walked away.

I was less upset about being hurried to check out than I was about the way the situation was handled. This approach felt inappropriate for any hotel, and certainly not what I would expect at a Four Seasons.

When I reached the front desk, I overheard another guest explaining that her flight had been delayed by several hours, and she was immediately offered a later checkout. Given my earlier request and experience, this was definitely a bit annoying to hear.

I explained to the front desk employee what had just happened outside my room. She chuckled, seemingly amused, and said she would “talk to her team” about it. Very dismissive.

Overall, the facilities and amenities are nice but they are marred by the service. Not Four Seasons quality at all. Disappointing and should be addressed.
