We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful hotel in the hills above San José. The setting is peaceful, surrounded by a stunning tropical garden that is beautifully maintained.

Our family of four stayed in a charming bungalow with a private terrace offering lovely views of the surrounding greenery. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature.

The swimming pool is another highlight, with spectacular views that make it an ideal spot to unwind.

The staff were warm, friendly, and always willing to help, making our stay even more enjoyable.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway close to San José.

My husband Steve is a reviews guy. He saw many wonderful reviews about this resort and Karla. Well let me tell you she did not disappoint us. Steve and I did the trail to see the waterfalls and they are beautiful! Please keep in mind there are a lot of stairs and rough terrain so not for everyone..The place was very clean and quiet. Food was amazing as well! We plan to return for our final night stay. Thank you,

We have been staying at Xandari for over 20 years, as it has been where we started and finished every visit to Costa Rica. This year will be the last! After traveling for a full day, we expected to be able to sleep before starting our vacation. We were put in a room next to loud, barking dogs. The management wasn't happy that we asked to be moved to a quieter room, but they eventually put us in a less expensive room than the one we had paid for. We were traveling with our adult children, and had introduced them to Xandari years ago. They booked a room before flying back to the US, and were put in a room next to the obnoxious, barking dogs. They didn't sleep at all, as management refused to move them to a quieter location. If you enjoy peace and quiet, and the ability to sleep, do not book a room here!

This was a wonderful place stay . Extremely close to the airport about 15 to 20 minutes drive . We came here July 8th and stayed until July 12th . It was quiet and peaceful .

The staffs are wonderful , Friendly and courteous.
End of June and start of July is suppose to be rainy season at Costa Rica and end of summer
However, we did not get a lot of rain. It was very light rain with good amount of sunshine. It was the perfect weather around 75 to 85 F.

Resort food was also very good with reasonable price .

Lucy the spa manger is super friendly and suggested us places to go around .
Loriana and Esbeth took care of us at the Spa and they great at their job . One of the best massage .

Rooms are spacious and spectacular balcony views .

Gloria is an amazing yoga instructor. She gave me a session all to myself. Felt so relaxed just what I needed after a long flight journey from the UK. Muchos Gracia's Gloria. Xx

The hotel was very convenient for the airport as it was only a 20 min drive out of San Jose. The hotel was very relaxed and not very busy as it only had a very limited amount of rooms, which were spacious and featured a large outdoor space. The hotel was very clean and kept very neat while also allowing for the grounds to look wild, the grounds had a lot of nature, I saw a lot of hummingbirds while sat outside. They will ask you to make a booking for food, although this is beneficial it is unnecessary as the restaurant was very quiet. They closely monitor their WhatsApp chats so you should message them if you need any support with anything. The Football World Cup was on while I was staying here and we asked if there was anywhere to watch the game and they ended up giving us access to their studio with a large TV and seating. They have a large magnitude of pools and they are all equally good if you ask me. The sunset pool is the best however. I went in the pool several times at about 5:30, so it opens very early and are kept warm.

My husband and I decided to celebrate his 40th birthday with a trip to Costa Rica and we have been loving every second of this trip so far! Xandaria Resort and Spa provides an escape from reality directly into paradise. We started our trip with a couples message, provided by Gabriella and Elizabeth, who each provided an experience that was truly exceptional. We would highly recommend this place to all who are looking for a getaway to remember

Staying at this resort has been an amazing experience. The estate is beautiful with trails, rainforests, bamboo forest, and waterfalls onsite. The food at the restaurant is a bit pricey but delicious and high quality. The spa experience is to die for, my partner and I got a couple’s massage and Irene’s work was amazing. Lucy at the spa reception is the sweetest soul, she is so knowledgeable, accommodating, and helpful. The front desk at the entire resort is lovely. I would come back here in a heartbeat.

My partner and I had an unforgettable experience at Xandari, and I cannot recommend it enough. From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by lush tropical gardens, breathtaking views, and a peaceful atmosphere that instantly made us feel relaxed. Every part of the property, from the beautifully maintained grounds to the stunning rooms, was thoughtfully designed to create a true sanctuary.

What made our stay even more special was the genuine hospitality of every staff member we encountered. Everyone greeted us with warmth, kindness, and sincere care, making us feel less like guests and more like family.

The highlight of our trip was without a doubt the spa.

Lucy, the spa supervisor, made us feel at home from the very first moment. She has such a beautiful, calming presence and an incredible gift for making people feel seen and cared for. Her compassion, warmth, and genuine conversations elevated the entire experience. One of my favorite moments was hearing her share the history of the property and its beautiful grounds. Her passion and knowledge gave the experience so much more meaning, and it was clear how much love she has for this special place.

My first massage with Joseline was exactly what we needed after traveling. Her techniques, rhythm, and intuitive touch created the perfect balance of relaxation and restoration. It set the tone for an incredible stay.

For my second treatment, I experienced the AyurA treatment with Glory, and it was truly one of the best wellness treatments I’ve ever received. She thoughtfully personalized the session by blending energy work, deep tissue massage, and reflexology into one seamless experience. Her intuition, skill, and healing hands are remarkable. I walked out feeling lighter, renewed, and completely restored.

The entire spa team embodies what true hospitality and healing should feel like. Their professionalism, kindness, and genuine care make this much more than a spa visit—it becomes an experience you’ll carry with you long after you leave.

Thank you to Lucy, Joseline, Glory, and the entire Xandari team for creating memories we’ll never forget. We cannot wait to return.

The Xandari Spa was excellent. Lucia was a great reception who delightfully explained the many services. Irene provided a world class deep tissue massage. Well worth the cost after a long day of travel.
