Location central.
Bin collections started 3.30am onwards.
A fabulous location and really large, well appointed rooms. The hotel smells amazing too!
Slightly dated furniture but still very comfortable.
Good location. Friendly staff. Had the choice of having breakfast in our room,
Nothing.
I liked the decor size of the rooms the breakfast option to your room the smell around the property
I didn’t like that the table and chairs didn’t match size so having breakfast in room was awkward also I think a shelf in the bathroom would have been helpful and also a hook to hang your damp towels up.
Rooms nice and spacious staff very friendly and welcoming.
Loose lampshades. Iron mark on carpet marks on chairs and sofa was ripped. Have to pay a £100 deposit incase of any damages. So we took pictures when we arrived to cover ourselves. I paid for my friend’s deposit of £100 paid. And we went 16th of June. And £200 is still pending on my account? So I’m not happy that this has not been cleared as our rooms were not at fault through our stay.
Perfect location
A bit to warm
The stuff was so so nice and the room very cute. Loved the whole stay. Also great location and everything is perfectly reachable by walking. Would definitely recommend it to others.
Lovely large suite, massive bathroom, large TV.
Lift was very slow
The location of this hotel is ideal in the centre of Liverpool, close to everything. But..... it seems to me that they are in the process of refurbishing a lot of the rooms and the remainder have had the bare minimum done to make them saleable to get some cash in to pay for it. There was a fair bit of hammer drilling during the day, but to be fair it didn't start until 8:30.
Our room, 202 was facing Castle Street and the doors to the balcony had restricted access, obviously for health and safety reasons. However, it was very hot in the room and although fans were provided that didn't really help. When I asked reception why there was no air conditioning, I was told the building was too old! There was an AC unit on the wall in the room! What I think she meant was they hadn't spent the money to fix it! The staff we interacted with were perfectly friendly and as helpful at they could be, but seem to have stock answers ready.
There is a nice bar, but never saw it manned during our entire 3 day stay.
Our bathroom was a laugh. The concealed shower unit didn't work and the shower head had been removed. Instead there was some bodge to take a feed from the bath tap. It did work, but looks ridiculous. The bath had been 'painted' presumably to cover chips. I only know this because there are paint runs in the bath lol.
The TV signal from the aerial continually dropped out so I logged it on to the WiFi and used apps. The WiFi signal was good.
The most frustrating thing was the fact that it was impossible to access a lot of the power sockets. There was nothing near the bed and others had shelves so high up under the sockets you couldn't use them. A previous guest must have lent on the shelf under the TV to access the socket as it was falling off the wall!
The bar fridge was useful and reasonably priced. The room is nicely decorated, but again the curtains need changing and there was a button missing from the sofa. The room is very spacious and light, but hot!
The wardrobe was a joke and again has had the minimum spent to make it saleable and the light didn't work
I understand the restrictions, as the building is listed, but there are some easy wins available to improve things greatly.
This hotel could be exceptional and they appear to be doing some refurbs to rooms (I could hear them! ). But it's not up to scratch yet. Shame really as they talk a good game, but don't really deliver.
Staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be
The room was far too hot on only a slightly warm day. The new owners of the property had decommissioned the air con units. The windows barely opened so could not get fresh air/a breeze. There was a small standing fan, but no plug sockets anywhere near the bed so not possible to use it to cool down at night.
Location was good, as was the breakfast on the first day
No air-con, on the third floor so was absolutely boiling. Only one breakfast slot available on the first day meaning I was late for work. Shower was freezing cold. 3 nights stay and the room wasn't cleaned even once. On the second morning, I received a text message 10 minutes after my breakfast was due saying breakfast was cancelled. Had I have known that I would have gone out for breakfast, but didn't have time by that point.
Location was excellent. Breakfast was ok… no proper breakfast area …
Room needs renovation. Not 4 star.
Fabulous location, centrally located for restaurants, bars, Matthew St and dock area.
We stayed at the start of an extreme heatwave. No air conditioning meant the heat in the building (no windows in corridor) was stifling and oppressive. The bathroom was hotter than any sauna! The fan provided was very noisy, which didn't make for a great night's sleep.
On the first morning there was a lot of confusion over breakfast. Due to illness we were informed there would be an hours delay, no good when you have a timed slot to visit the Beatles houses! Told we couldn't have a continental breakfast as there wasn't anyone to 'cook the croissants'?! Common sense eventually prevailed, and we were refunded. However, on the second morning we were told we couldn't have an earlier breakfast as all time slots were taken! Again, no good when you have to catch an earlier train home as many were cancelled due to extreme weather. This lack of flexibility was disappointing, and I would not stay here again.
