Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds .
We came for a wedding function and did not disappoint. The chapel is beautiful and the food was out of this world. What an amazing chef there!! We stayed in the rooms at the back of the chapel and I think we got a good deal there as it was cosy and comfortable, other members of our family stayed in the main hotel and was kept awake for most of the night due to another wedding party and plus selfish people shouting outside which is shame. The venue its self is very well presented and very clean.
Air con. The whole place was beautiful
Sad to hear the hotel will close and change soon.
There was an under fed fox.
Was not impressed with the overall service , I would definitely not be recommending. I had expectations
First, the good points.
It's a lovely hotel in beautiful, peaceful grounds. Receptionists and staff very pleasant.
Had a nice meal in the restaurant on our first evening.
Our standard room was clean and spacious, with a decent shower and views over the gardens.
However.........
There isn't a decent hotel bar in the evening, just an area, with tables, screened off from the restaurant.
Neither is there a comfortable lounge, where you might sit in the evenings.
We were looking forward to our breakfast.
Unfortunately, it was self service, with no vegetarian options and the food was running out and not being timeously replaced, plus there was a lack of serving tongs in places and no bin for used teabags.
The tables had no tablecloths and were stained!!!
The restaurant, in the morning, was more reminiscent of a café; we were so disappointed and it spoilt our 2 night, 2 breakfast stay.
I booked a room at this hotel, from the website at a price of £120 per night, which included breakfast. Once I'd entered my credit card details and clicked on pay, then a tax recovery charge of £23.92 was applied along with a service charge of £47.17, pushing the total price up to £190!! I instantly cancelled but had to wait 7 days for my refund - what a con !!! AVOID !!
My review is had a fantastic time at a perfect hotel had a great time and the staff were so helpful and polite. Thank you.
Waiting staff were very nice and friendly.
Very tired. Expensive for the room in the state it was in.
Beautiful landscape and garden areas. The room was attractive with ample storage, plenty of towels and a comfortable bed.
We arrived earlier than anticipated and the receptionist directed us to the cafe which was away from the main building.
The cafe was ok, but needs some updating as the tables were shabby. Two young lads were serving and although they looked clean, their clothing looked shabby and their footwear was grubby. It didn't seem like they had any training in terms of customer service. I felt a little sorry for them. There was an older man who was buzzing around and checking tables. He was pleasant, polite and acknowledged us as we would expect as customers.
The food wasn't that great we ordered fish and chips, I can't describe what the fish was.or how the batter was created but it was incredibly crunchy. There was a huge amount of batter with hardly any 'fish'
The check in process should be simpler. The reception area is quite a trek from the bedrooms- they were in the same building as the cafe. So if we had been told that it would have been helpful especially as we luggage and have mobility issues. We were disappointed that there was no offer of help.
The reception staff didn't seem pleased to welcome us, they lacked enthusiasm. As we checked out I was asked about the stay and I said it was ok. There was no attempt to find out why it was just ok, just an acceptance.
I want this feedback to be taken as constructive to help improve a customer experience. I expected more.because I've stayed in Premier Inns that have a higher standard of hospitality and are cheaper.
we have just found a fantastic little getaway only 50 mins from London lovely rooms, really excellent food and very welcoming staff, just to find its closing for total refurb. We will return
We have stayed here a few times and absolutely love it. The main thing we love is just how lovely and friendly all the staff are. Nothing is too much trouble. Other than that it's the comfortable rooms, the beautiful grounds, and the delicious food.
To hear that it will be closing in July to be redeveloped into a spa.
Would go back next year if available staff were friendly food was good and room was nice.Just minor issues with organising staff in bar and breakfast
It was disappointing that the spa facilities were closed; however, we made the most of the relaxing room while we waited for our treatments.
The staff who provided the treatments were amazing and very accommodating, especially as we were a large group. Amanda, the manager, brought in extra staff to ensure everyone's treatment. Thank you, everyone, for making our experience so pleasurable.
While the building is impressive and generally clean and calm, this has the feeling of a failing hotel. Some of the staff are good and our room was large and comfortable - although there was only one chair in the room. Dinner was OK - not a huge amount of choice, but with some standard restaurant offerings. There was no imagination to it, though, nor anything that really appealed to a foodie. The quality of the food was OK without being outstanding.
However, breakfast was awful. It was all buffet - including get your own drinks. But the range of food was very unimpressive - no yoghurt, little fruit and no cold meats. The ‘hot’ food in the warmers were not only not warm, but had clearly been in them for hours. I asked for poached eggs on toast and was told I would have to do my own toast: when I pointed out that either the eggs or the toast would be cold, the waitress was totally uninterested. When the eggs appeared - swimming in water - by the time my toast was ready the eggs were lukewarm. A really poor example of customer service and care for food.
I will not be returning.
