Lovely staff and great location
Pros:

In general we had a good stay. The hotel is well located for trams into the centre and near to the beautiful Vongel Park. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. Everyone we met was very friendly and keen to help. The room was a decent size, and although overlooking a main road, the double-glazing meant it wasn't too noisy. The bed was very comfortable. We liked the eco approach.

Cons:

However, the hotel is a bit 'style over substance'. The decor is bright and fun but some elements were not very practical. There were no drawers for example, the safe didn't work and wasn't fixed despite our asking twice during our 4 night stay. It seemed that the lovely reception staff were not well supported by technical management - a lightbulb had gone in our room and the plug in the sink didn't work, simple things that should have been checked during changeovers. We didn't have the breakfast but it looked expensive for what was on offer (then again, Amsterdam IS expensive). There is an excellent Turkish cafe opposite the hotel - Bere Nali - we went there instead.

The worst branch of a pretty good hotel chain.
Pros:

One of the best locations, near a beautiful neighbourhood and “the Central Park”, with a good public transport system. The front desk is always ready to help and creates a very friendly atmosphere.

Cons:

First of all, I would like to mention that I spent a couple of days at Conscious Hotel Westpark during the same week and didn’t experience any of the issues I am describing below.

1. The twin room is so small that you can’t fully open the bathroom door.
2. The shower water pressure is so poor that it’s impossible to properly wash long hair.
3. You can’t reach the front desk via the internal phone. It simply doesn’t work.
4. During daily cleaning, I wasn’t provided with fresh towels, even though the dirty ones were taken away.
5. There is no air conditioning that you can adjust to your preferred temperature.
6. Forget about silence, as even the room door doesn’t fit the door frame properly.
7. The twin bed consists of two single beds, which is fine until you realise that they have an iron frame that you can feel in the middle of the bed.

Next time, I would love to stay at the Westpark branch again and would choose it over this one, even if this hotel were free.
