Enjoyed it so much, we extended our stay
Pros:

Always a lovely stay. All the stay were so lovely and helpful, being really accommodating when we wanted to extend our stay and helping in the breakfast room with a mini choking incident. Grounds are beautiful and lovely to go walking, especially with the dog. We have stayed many times when in the area and will definitely be back!

A wonderful experience. Thank you.
Pros:

We booked this for our daughter and partner for a surprise. We booked also in April and Melissa and Rob adore coming here. We shared Sunday lunch with them which was a delicious as always. Love the castle, staff and the area. Absolutely stunning. Thank you.

Excellent stay and a great old building.
Pros:

Staff were great and the qualify of the food excellent

Cons:

Breakfast was a little expensive (compared to other places we have stayed) and the parking was difficult due to large numbers of other events on the site.

Staff, location and food very good, rooms need updating (courtyard). I expected something more.
Pros:

Staff were always excellent, location is very nice and the food in the restaurant (Dinner and Breakfast) were very good quality. Plenty of parking and the hotel has some nice features.

Cons:

Rooms are a bit dated and there was some mould around the bath. Our bathroom radiator valve had also snapped off in the past and so it was like a sauna! Based on this, the price paid was a bit over the top.

A truly historical experience!
Pros:

Exceptional building - so fun to stay somewhere with such history. Staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. Just wandering around the building was really interesting. Breakfast was good and the library bar was warm and friendly.

Cons:

Slightly eccentric plumbing!

Be lord of the manor for a night....
Pros:

This hotel really feels special. Rooms have loads of historic features, makes you feel like an aristocrat for your stay. Great views and walking distance to Durham Cricket ground. Excellent dinner.
