It was fairly central and easy to get from the rail station

Cons:

The bathroom in the first room had a bad smell. Maybe the drain or general damp caused by an extractor fan that didn’t work. It was bad enough for us to have the windows open during the night. When we complained we were offered a new room and this was very cramped but as we were only staying one more night we moved despite the room lacking the fridge and space of the first room. However the bathroom in the second room was very badly designed with a shower near the door without a curtain meaning the rest of the bathroom was accessible only over a wet floor after using the shower. The were also parts missing on the shower making it hard to know how to regulate the hot water. As a building surveyor I was surprised by the lack of maintenance in the hotel generally. The hotel was expensive for what we got but not extortionately and the 19 euros for breakfast was very high compared to others on our holiday.

Centrale locatie in hartje Haarlem. Niet voor rustzoekers

De locatie in het centrum

Cons:

Een deel van de kamers is gesitueerd aan de straatkant bij restaurants en uitgaansgelegenheden, waar in het weekend tot diep in de nacht wordt gefeest. Het pand is oud met de nog originele ramen die weinig tot geen geluid tegenhouden. Wij konden daardoor uiteindelijk pas na sluitingstijd van de laatste club en luidruchtig vertrekkende jongeren slapen, dat was om 05:00 uur. De oordopjes die wij voor de volgende nacht kochten hielpen gelukkig wel.
Het management doet er goed aan om dit vooraf aan gasten mede te delen en/of om gratis oordoppen beschikbaar te stellen.

Tevens is het in het pand zelf ook erg luidruchtig, je hoort met gemak de andere gasten praten en heen en weer lopen in de kamers en op de gangen.

Pros:

Location was very good. Room was a good size.It was very quite and the mattress was nice and firm. Oh and it had an elevator.

Cons:

Pricy but everything thing is in NL. We cannot afford more than a week there. Breakfast in particular was prohibitively expensive, but instant coffee was provided.

Very pleasant hotel experience, excellent value for money
Pros:

I am giving this hotel top rating because of the excellent value for money. It is not a premium hotel, but provides all that you need:
Great location in the very centre of town, right by the main square and the church. Easy access to/from the railway station. From Schiphol airport, you can take a bus (number 300, a little tricky to locate the bus stop) that takes you close to the hotel. A local bus with many stops, but preferrable to transfers by train I think.
A spacious and functional room with a comfortable bed and good shower. Also a sitting area with adequate light for reading.
Serving a nice breakfast in the downstairs restaurant, again nothing fancy but providing what you need to make a good start for the day. Freshly fried eggs, bacon, yoghurt and fruits, good coffee.
The staff were friendly and helpful, I was able to check in on arrival even though it was before 15:00.
All in all a great experience, and Haarlem is such a nice place to visit.
