The staff was nice and welcoming. The room was big and had all you need for a vacation. The bed was comfy.

Shockingly poor.
Cons:

How on earth this has an almost 8/10 rating on here is anyone’s guess. Photos make it seem significantly better than how it is.
Worst part, travelling as three women, was the poor security. Anyone able to walk into the ‘courtyard’ the rooms surrounded, the doors and locks felt flimsy, particularly the back doors to the rooms.
We booked two rooms, one of them had an incredibly strong smell of fish and resulted in clothes not even worn in the room needing to be washed.
Mould on ceilings.
Dirt and dust around the corners of rooms/door hinges and anything above eye level.
Surfaces very sticky - bedside tables had to have tissue put down so we could put our phones down to prevent sticking, same with the dining room table.
Bed hard and uncomfortable.

We arrived at midnight and left 8 hours later - had it not been so late at arrival, we wouldn’t have bothered checking in to begin with. We moved to a different hotel in Cairns.
Woman at front desk didn’t care when we mentioned the fact that pictures do not reflect true room quality and the fish smell so no point talking to her. Based on owners responses to any criticism on here i’m sure they will have a comeback for anything that is said.

Ultimately had 2 nights of the originally booked 4 night stay refunded, and still feel cheated with the rooms!

Arrived for late check in and the staff were still available and so lovely! Location to the esplanade was perfect, close to shops and a great little indian restaurant and bakery.

Cons:

Needed to be cleaner, it was tidy but very dusty and bathroom hadn't been cleaned.
