Friendly and good value
Pros:

Comfy room quiet nice restaurant and friendly staff

Cons:

If I gave to say one thing it was the fish cake tasted a bit bland to me. But the chips more than made up for it . And the meal overall was good.

Terrible
Pros:

The place was nice and clean

Cons:

The facility for disabled access was terrible, the only exit was a steep ramp outside and no lifts for an elderly 91 years old , my mother had to climb the stairs.

Also this was a wedding the evening reception upstairs had a bar in it but the beer was warm and flat

Noisy and disrespectful
Pros:

It was tidy though very dated. I enjoyed the complimentary water and biscuits and the last staff member though having a time with the ‘slow computer’ was chirp and cheerful.

Cons:

Very disrespectful guests. The noise was almost unbearable. Slamming doors all night, drunk shouting in the halls at 3am. The door adjoining the rooms is always a hotel issue and despite knocking three separate occasions the guest continued to blow dry her hair past midnight. The Friday night I returned with a takeaway in hand, a jacket over my shoulders and was still right in the front lobby cat called by drunk men. I think the guests were the absolute issue with me getting any comfortable sleep this weekend.

There was a plastic beading or fixture loose from the wall just unsafely sticking out. The bathroom was clean thank you. The WiFi definitely needs some attention as if continues to kick my work laptop out.

Pros:

Beautiful grounds, plenty of parking, impressive chandelier and stairs, reasonable meals (if meat heavy), decent breakfast, good sized room, nicely decorated, comfortable bed. Air conditioning didn't work at all but windows opened, thank goodness as it was very hot. Room was clean and tidy.

Cons:

I stayed 2 nights. I ordered a bar meal and waited at the bar until it arrived. While I waited, the head barman/manager reprimanded two members of staff in front of me. He was unhappy with the organisation behind the bar and spent my remaining wait time tidying up, noisily. His anger was palpable and made me and his subordinates uncomfortable. His language was inappropriate (swearing and undermining his staff). I moved away from the bar to wait for my meal so that I could avoid hearing what he had to say. It was an unpleasant experience.

I'd hoped he'd be in a better mood on my second night, but unfortunately not. Lots of expletives used quietly (but difficult to avoid overhearing) to his staff. I chose to eat in the dining room to avoid him. Behaviour amounted to bullying and reflects poor staff training.

I waited to be seated at breakfast the first morning. Eventually found my own seat and found a member of staff mid-meal to give my room number to. I didn't bother the second morning and nobody noticed that I'd seated myself.

I travel frequently. When I check in, I expect the receptionist to tell me when the dining room will be open for meals, where I can find it and my room, I expect to be told what facilities are available in the hotel, information I need to know about parking, how to access my room, what restaurants/shops, etc are within walking distance... . Your receptionist checked me in in silence, handed me my key and indicated the stairs. My husband added an extra night to my stay (I'd made the original booking). While I appreciated not having to change rooms, the receptionist did not bother to assure me and I had to ask. Also, was there a bar to the right of the reception and stairs? I never found out.
Poor staff training.

Almost no signage to rooms, stairs, Reception and dining areas.
