The room was very dated, the bed mattress was old and very very uncomfortable, I have Rhumatoid Arthritis shower controls were very old fashioned, the sink i thought it was Babltism font.

Dinner was excellent. Quite the best fish and chips I have had in a long while.
It was 35 degrees in Essex, so I was looking forward to staying in a hotel which advertised air conditioning! Imagine my dismay when I reached my rather dated room which turned out to have no air conditioning!. No apology from Reception (they seem to take no responsibility for the information they submitted to hotels.com, or their own literature) but when I asked for a full refund, they did move me to a vastly superior room which did have air con, although it was not the most efficient. It took a couple of hours for the room to get nice and cool.
My other major gripe was the shower pressure which was weaker than the air con.
As others have said, the parking is convenient and the restaurant is worth a try. The staff are pleasant. Access to rooms is through a very odd wedding venue. The room I was moved to was comfortable and I got a good night's sleep.
Recently had Sunday lunch here and can honestly say it was one of the best we have had in a long time. A lot of restaurants seem to serve lunch as a tower all piled up in the middle of the plate but we prefer to see what we are eating which is exactly what you get at the Beamish Park.
Service was a bit slow but we were not in any hurry and enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and watching the incredible views before lunch arrived. Food was absolutely delicious with vegetables and cauliflower cheese served separately with extra gravy so we could help ourselves and being from a Yorkshire family the Yorkshire pudding dipped in the gravy was just perfect.
Desserts were also very, very nice and we came away feeling very full but very satisfied and we will definitely return.
Good location convenient for visiting attractions in the north east especially Beamish Museum and Tanfield Railway which are a short distance away.
