Number 1 Hotel in the World!
Pros:

The Ayara Hotel is exceptional. We have travelled the world for decades and stayed in many hotels from the most luxurious chains to quaint boutique hotels and the Ayara is the best hotel we have stayed in for a balance of value for money, charm, location and above all else the staff. The staff at the Ayara are simply the best. The best in the world. Chef Tom and his team are absolute masters of Thai and fusion cuisine. The breakfast is fantastic. There is an a la carte breakfast menu with amazing egg dishes, Thai delights and local fruit and fish. There is also a buffet menu with delicious pastries and Asian dishes. The stand out dinner dish is Chef Tom's roasted duck curry - amazing! The bar and restaurant team of Ning and Nick were amazing and they were the perfect hosts - friendly, attentive and full of local knowledge and charm. The bartenders (sorry, I didn't get the names) produced amazing cocktails for us each night (several times!) with the happy hour a most welcome treat. There are also daily complimentary activities such as Thai cooking with Chef Tom, cocktail making and market day strolls. All brilliant.

The room we had was superb. It opened out onto the pool area and we had a complimentary minbar, a wonderful shower and a great spa bath. The decor was lovely and the choice of scented candle was a very nice touch. There is a small gym that does the job of lessening the impact of Chef Tom's amazing food! The Ratana spa was a wonderful, calm oasis and the magical hands of the ladies were brilliant.

The hotel runs a shuttle bus/car from the hotel to Kamala Beach which runs to the second. It is a really great concept as the hotel is on quiet, wooded hills overlooking the Andaman Sea and so avoids the noise and bustle of the beach area but is just minutes away by a luxurious (and complimentary) car that runs every two hours. Simply brilliant!

Cons:

In the interests of continual improvement, I offer the following observations. Please note, these are not criticisms in any way. They are designed to help an exceptional hotel get even better. Firstly, it would be helpful to list the full ingredients on the cocktails. Some had soda water toppers that weren't listed. My wife hates fizzy drinks and got caught out twice!! Secondly, the gym had air conditioning but this was understandably switched off as gym use was not high. It would be nice to have a system that would allow guests to book a pre-cooled gym as it took a good 15 minutes to cool down once switched on. Finally, for the cooking lessons with Chef Tom, would it be possible to have ingredient and method sheets to take away? I hope these observations help!!

Bon séjour et personnel agréable!
Pros:

Très joli resort mais qui mérite un bon rafraîchissement.
Le personnel était très sympathique et serviable, une navette vers Kamala est à la disposition des clients toutes les 2h.
Notre chambre était très grande et spacieuse, le lit très confortable.

Cons:

La climatisation fait beaucoup de bruit et m’a empêché de bien dormir.
L’établissement paraît parfois un peu délabré, presque abandonné par endroits, c’est dommage.
Il manque un peu de vie dans l’hôtel, par exemple le bar ferme tôt et on ne peut plus se faire servir de boissons en terrasse au bord de la piscine, alors que la vue de la terrasse est superbe pour le sunset.

Pros:

Pool and views were gorgeous, inclusion of breakfast was nice. The staff were so kind and helpful. We didn't take the shuttle but it was nice that it was offered.

Cons:

We had 3 people and required an extra bed, it wasn't the most comfortable. The food was okay but at least there was a restaurant on site.

Absolut begeistert! Wir reisen viel, aber eine so herzliche, angenehme und gleichzeitig unaufdringliche Atmosphäre haben wir selten erlebt. Das gesamte Team ist außergewöhnlich freundlich und aufmerksam.

Unsere Poolvilla war traumhaft mit sensationellem Ausblick. Besonders hervorzuheben: Zu jeder Villa gehört ein separates Gebäude mit Wohnbereich und Küchenzeile inkl. Nespresso-Maschine – das wird in der Beschreibung (z. B. auf Booking.com) fast unterschätzt. Auch die täglich aufgefüllte Minibar (Softdrinks, Wasser, Bier, Kaffeekapseln) ist ein großes Plus.

Das Frühstück (à la carte & Buffet) und das gesamte Essen waren hervorragend – und wir mussten nie lange warten. Die Happy Hour (2 Cocktails zum Preis von einem) rundet den Tag perfekt ab.

Einziger kleiner Minuspunkt: kein direkter Zugang zum Meer, da die Treppe aktuell defekt ist. Mit einer Lösung hierfür wäre es absolut perfekt.

Klare 5 Sterne – wir kommen wieder!

Pros:

Pour nous l’Ayara représente le vrai 5 *. Le plaisir du petit déjeuner servi avec grande classe et un menu de choix en plus du buffet. Le personnel est exceptionnel.

Cons:

Il pourrait y avoir quelques parasols en plus à la piscine pour les quelques personnes qui voudraient y passer la journée.

We had a good time at Ayara Kamala Resort
Pros:

We enjoyed our stay at Ayara Kamala Resort & Spa overall. The room itself was absolutely stunning, big, and the honeymoon setup i requested was beautifully arranged. It was clear that effort had been put into making the occasion special.

The breakfast was exceptional, easily a 10/10. I wouldn’t change a single thing. Having breakfast tables by the pool overlooking the sea makes the entire experience feel very special, and the coffee was surprisingly excellent, which is something many hotels don’t get right.

The shuttle service to Kamala Beach was also very professional and consistently on time, which made getting around easy. The property also has a private beach, which is a nice feature. Staff was always extremely polite and accommodating.

Cons:

The gym is quite small and has limited equipment, so guests expecting a full fitness facility might find it a bit underwhelming.

Swimming at their private beach [small] can be a bit difficult because the shoreline has many medium-to-large rocks. You can still swim if you’re comfortable navigating them, but it may not be ideal for everyone. Access also involves quite a lot of stairs down and back up, so it may be challenging for elderly guests or anyone with mobility limitations.

We had dinner once at the hotel restaurant, and unfortunately the experience was somewhat disorganized. There appeared to be only one very young staff member handling everything as taking orders, serving food, and processing payments. He had to run downstairs to collect dishes and was clearly overwhelmed, although he remained polite and did his best throughout the evening. The issue wasn’t his attitude but rather a lack of staff support. Some tables were left unattended for long periods, and the service overall felt chaotic. A couple of dishes were also extremely spicy from the start, and some of the glassware could have been better cleaned and polished.

For the dinner experience i would rate it around 5/10, though i want to stress that the waiter himself was doing his best under difficult circumstances for him.

Overall, we still had a pleasant stay, mainly thanks to the beautiful room, the incredible breakfast, and the views. With slightly better pricing alignment and improved restaurant service, the experience could easily become outstanding.
