Pros:

Accomodation was in an enclosed area with seating outside so our dog could wonder around. The staff were friendly and polite even when we had a misunderstanding of the check out time (which was 10.30 on our booking). Lovely breakfast.

Good value rooms for a short stay and great food.
Pros:

Food was very good, the breakfast was excellent, very tasty and freshly cooked.
We ate here every evening, and there was a good choice of dishes, especially pies! Dogs re made welcome in the rooms and in the pub.
We did a few nice walks from the pub, May Hill was worth the uphill slog for the view, but some of the stiles were not very dog friendly as they were covered with barbed wire.

Cons:

It looked a bit unloved in places, the plants in pots outside the rooms needed watering, they were all dead.
The quilt and pillows could do with a wash, however the covers and cases were clean. The room generally was quite small but had everything we needed for our stay.

Perfect location for an overnight stopover
Pros:

Staff were amazing, so friendly. The food was also very good. Room was a nice size and good value for money. Both our dogs were very welcome.

Cons:

Room wasn’t cleaned to the highest standard. Not dirty but a few dusty corners etc.

We love the atmosphere in the bar restaurant
Pros:

Staff members were friendly and food was fab. Especially Breakfast

Cons:

Shower cubicle
I have mobility problems and it was a tight squeeze getting in though the door
Also beds lumpy.

Needs to be run by a caring manager, not the owner
Pros:

Staff were LOVELY. Absolutely could not fault them. Food was great. The rooms are cute but they probably need a little updating

Cons:

All of the drinks I requested weren’t available. Staff seemed panicky to try their best, as if they were scared?
The room we stayed in seemed to have everyone’s water pipes running through so it woke us up constantly during the night.
We over heard the owner speaking to an elderly couple in the morning about wanting a refund because they’d had money taken from their account when they’d used a voucher. So incredibly shocked a business owner would speak down to elderly people (or anyone) like that. Especially me being a business owner myself, I’d never dream of it. Quite shocking actually and really disgusting, no wonder the staff are terrified.

A very homely pub ,where we were made to feel most welcome , with excellent food too.

Very comfortable, clean & all on ground level , ideal for 2 less mobile travellers.

Despite a few hiccups we had a very pleasurable stay it needs a bit of TLC to make it exceptional hopefully the new Gene
Pros:

Friendly staff and rustic interior to the pub. The accommodation was in a courtyard of eight rooms the room was compact with a small shower room the bed was comfortable and it was very clean. The evening menu was great as was the pies sadly no fresh fish on the menu. They advertised cocktails but when we ordered a Margarita we were told they didn’t have any tequila.

Cons:

The breakfasts were a bit touch and go they never looked liked the picture on their website. The first breakfast wasn’t that good the eggs were overcooked as was the bacon, the next morning all fine then back to being overcooked again.

What a British pub should be like
Pros:

Food and all staff were nice Very dog friendly.

Cons:

The room where we stayed was Number 1 Oak
A bit too close to smoking area so when people nipped out for a fag our room got the brunt of it
Unusually hot weather meant we slept with the door and window open.But overall nice break
