Staff were all lovely.
Mattress appeared very new.
Low cost of room.
Room (45) - very shabby decor, stained carpet, majorly cracked bathroom tiles, cramped toilet, bad lighting, ill-fitting windows, strange smell.
Breakfast - no English breakfast tea available (asked for some but told the coffee machine wasn’t working), only instant coffee, water in urn was luke warm. Orange squash instead of orange juice.
Good and quiet location
Accessibility perfect
Breakfast had proper bacon and was offered other types of eggs
Some noise from the children running in the corridors and banging doors
The location
It needed a major refurb as it looked very dated. In addition our room had damp patches on the ceiling.
Great location. Very friendly and accommodating staff who have recently taken over the hotel. Lovely outdoor area. The room and dining area were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great and the complimentary wine in the room was a nice touch. I forgot my charger so the staff offered to charge it for me both days.
No criticism of the actual property but the postcode takes you to an estate via sat nav. The hotel is further down the road but has a different name to the name displayed on Booking.

Cleanliness of room
Nothing
Everything, probably the worse hotel I’ve stayed in for a long time. I had high expectations for the price I paid. Very disappointed.
Breakfast was awful, complete waste of my money.
Undergoing renovation currently so not a luxury hotel. Fresh bedding and towels but the rooms are pretty basic but great value for money. The staff were excellent. Evening meal was very good and an unexpected buffet breakfast set us up for the day. Would we stay here again - absolutely!
The hotel is undergoing renovation currently but the low cost of our stay was in balance.
Nothing.
Where to start. Most bizarre place I've ever stayed. Dirty, random, appalling beer, dated. Like Fawlty Towers but without the laughs. Paid £130 for 1 night with my son, terrible value for money.
The hotel was easy to find and seemed like a nice location. The room was large and spacious
The room was stifling hot and the windows were rotting and falling apart. The staff were very young and seemed out of their depth. Asking for a drink at the bar from one staff member who needed to get someone else to pour it. The quality of drinks were very poor.
Little children running everywhere screaming and you could hear it all inside your room with no peace.
No lifts so had to drag very heavy suitcases up the stairs.
The breakfast was fine
Leaving was the second most likeable part of this.
The room smelt like an Indian restaurant.
The general areas of the hotel were in need of significant renovation.
The room was disgusting. The carpet was marked and dirty. There were two single bed frames which were different lengths and heights. There was a lighter and a bottle of water and mediation from previous users.
There is a random fridge in the room with nothing in it.
The bed was not comfy, the blinds didn’t cover the window so light came in early in the morning.
The shower screen did not meet the bath through the gap a large amount of water came on to the floor making it wet and hazardous. There was mould in the bathroom and around the window.
I feel itchy like I have been bitten by insects.
I would like a refund as I raised these to the staff who said they couldn’t sort a refund it would have to be a manager
Leaving
The property is in a bad state of repair, very grubby and dirty in most areas. Loose trims on carpets in walk areas causing trip hazard. Generally just a really run down hotel.
The staff were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The hotel is tucked away from the motorway in a quiet area. We drove past farms and quaint villages to get there. It’s very close to a Jaguar/Land Rover facility and test track.
Upon arriving, we checked-in and were shown our King room on the ground floor. The room was very large and had a garden view. It was clean, cool and comfortable. The furnishings were nice and simple. (However, there was a motorcycle jacket hanging up in wardrobe, which was strange.)
This being said, the room did not have a king size bed as described on the hotel’s website and Booking.com. It only had a double bed, but it looked like it once contained two doubles. Since I’d requested a king—and had even confirmed the bed size with the hotel and Booking.com before our trip—my husband and I decided to complain and request a room change.
The hotel manager/front desk attendant initially seemed confused when we told him there wasn’t a king size bed in the room. He said our room is called “the king room” so the bed is a king bed. My husband explained why this wasn’t the case and that we’d like a room with two double beds.
The hotel manager/front desk attendant made a few phone calls and then immediately found us a room on the first floor with two double beds. He asked us to go with him to the room before moving our luggage to check whether it would be an acceptable swap. He also asked my husband to show him the difference between a king size bed and a double bed because he’s new to the hospitality industry and didn’t know. We found his request a little strange but agreed, and ultimately we decided to stay in the new room.
The hotel is under new management and is clearly a work in progress. This being said, the staff made our experience there relaxing and enjoyable. All of them openly acknowledged and apologized for their shortcomings and issues with the building.
The property is undergoing intensive renovation. In some regards, it’s surprising they’re still accepting bookings given the property’s condition.
In our room, a makeup mirror was falling off the bathroom wall due to poor installation. One of the new wall sockets by the bed was unusable because of poor installation.
The bathroom had recently been renovated, but there was a build up of black mold under the shower door seals. However, the rest of the bathroom and sleeping area was clean.
Four small towels, a small bar of soap, and small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were provided. The bathroom also contained plenty of toilet paper, a rubber shower mat, and a floor mat. No hand towels were provided. There was no option for room service, but we didn’t feel like we need it.
The room itself was large and contained an odd assortment of old, shabby furniture and new, mix-matched pieces from somewhere like Dunelm. The bedside lamps had USB ports, which was nice. Although, only one lamp worked owing to the aforementioned issue with the socket. The overhead lights in the room, though, were essentially bare bulbs. They were harsh and too bright. There was a flat screen TV, which we never turned on, and a small tea/coffee area. There wasn’t a phone to call the front desk nor a Do Not Disturb tag for the door.
Our king bed (two doubles pushed together) was comfortable and clean. Four comfortable pillows were provided but only one double duvet, which wasn’t large enough for two people to share. The room was quiet; it also had a blackout curtain.
We stayed during a heatwave. Our room was on the first floor and was hot, but the radiator was also on when we arrived. A medium-size tabletop fan was included in the room, which was a nice touch. Our window could open too.
Other parts of the hotel were also undergoing renovations and repairs. There were unsecured treads on the stairs and hanging wires where light fittings had once been.
