Review Highlights

Pros:
Very friendly, helpful and welcoming staff
Beautiful building and stunning countryside location
Comfortable beds and generally comfortable rooms
Good on-site restaurant with tasty, well-served meals
Ample parking and convenient location for nearby towns
Cons:
Some very small or awkwardly laid-out rooms (e.g., shower in bedroom)
A few reports of poor shower pressure and moths
Breakfast offering sometimes limited or charged extra despite booking
A few guests found prices / some costs a bit high
Occasional noise from bar under some rooms and steep stairs to upstairs rooms

Categories

Cleanliness
8.5
Generally reported as clean and comfortable, though one reviewer noted moths in a room and some bathrooms appeared to be retrofitted which some guests commented on.
Service
10
Consistently praised across many reviews — staff described as very friendly, helpful, welcoming and informative; multiple guests credited staff as a key reason for an enjoyable stay.
Location
10
Frequently highlighted as a major positive: stunning countryside, excellent/perfect location and convenient for nearby towns and meetups.
Room Quality
7.5
Mixed reports: several guests had lovely, comfortable rooms and beds, but others reported very small bedrooms (Room 7, No. 6), unconventional layouts (shower in the bedroom), lack of privacy and limited in-room facilities.
Amenities
8
Basic amenities generally available (parking, restaurant), but some issues noted: limited/changed breakfast offering vs booking, no shelter for bicycles, awkward tea/coffee setup, and a tedious online TV/room-service process for some guests.
Value for Money
8
Most guests felt the experience was good value given the setting and service, but several mentions of being 'a bit pricey' and paying extra for cooked breakfast lowered this score slightly.
Food and Beverage
9.2
Food receives strong positive feedback — evening meals and dinner described as delicious and service fast; a few guests considered prices on the higher side.
Overall Experience
9.2
Overall very positive — many 'fantastic/super' stay comments and repeat praise for staff and setting, offset by a minority of guests who experienced cramped rooms, noisy nights or amenity inconsistencies.

Pros:

Luxurious feel to the new accommodation, I used to work here back in the day and the room I stayed in was previously one of the chefs quarters! It felt pretty surreal to be staying there 😁 the staff accomodation is now gone and replaced with gorgeous self contained guest rooms 👍

Cons:

No room service option or food available on a Sunday evening past restaurant closing time. No night manager/staff on duty. Village shop also closes at 11.30 am?? I got back late and I felt kinda deserted..... And hungry!

Peep hole could do with a wee cover as it let's in a lazer-pen style beam of light, directly into your face when you're laying in bed! Fun times 😅 I hung a cardigan over the door on the second night....

Great location, nice place, overall good stay. Breakfast was disappointing but dinner was good.
Pros:

The location was spot on for the highlights of the north Cotswolds. The room and pub design was nice, up to date, and comfortable! Staff was great!

Cons:

Breakfast was subpar, and didn't meet expectations. Included breakfast was only croissant and cereal. Not an actual breakfast or hot meal. The breakfast should have been a full breakfast.
