Cons:
Some very small or awkwardly laid-out rooms (e.g., shower in bedroom)

Categories

Cleanliness
8.5
Generally reported as clean and comfortable, though one reviewer noted moths in a room and some bathrooms appeared to be retrofitted which some guests commented on.
Service
10
Consistently praised across many reviews — staff described as very friendly, helpful, welcoming and informative; multiple guests credited staff as a key reason for an enjoyable stay.
Location
10
Frequently highlighted as a major positive: stunning countryside, excellent/perfect location and convenient for nearby towns and meetups.
Room Quality
7.5
Mixed reports: several guests had lovely, comfortable rooms and beds, but others reported very small bedrooms (Room 7, No. 6), unconventional layouts (shower in the bedroom), lack of privacy and limited in-room facilities.
Amenities
8
Basic amenities generally available (parking, restaurant), but some issues noted: limited/changed breakfast offering vs booking, no shelter for bicycles, awkward tea/coffee setup, and a tedious online TV/room-service process for some guests.
Value for Money
8
Most guests felt the experience was good value given the setting and service, but several mentions of being 'a bit pricey' and paying extra for cooked breakfast lowered this score slightly.
Food and Beverage
9.2
Food receives strong positive feedback — evening meals and dinner described as delicious and service fast; a few guests considered prices on the higher side.
Overall Experience
9.2
Overall very positive — many 'fantastic/super' stay comments and repeat praise for staff and setting, offset by a minority of guests who experienced cramped rooms, noisy nights or amenity inconsistencies.

Great weekend but spoilt by a fire alarm at 5.45 which went off for an hour. No apology from the team and the waitress i
Pros:

Location and food perfect

Cons:

The bathroom wasn’t fit for purpose. We are two fit adults and we struggled to use the bath as the room was so small. You have to step on the toilet to get out of the bath.

Pros:

The Lamb Inn is handily located for Longleat, which was the main purpose of our stay.

We paid for bed and breakfast, and very much enjoyed the included breakfast as part of our package.

The main courses as part of the evening meals served there, were good.

Hindon itself is a picturesque small village, with at least one small thatched cottage. There is a Village Store, which offers main essentials.

Cons:

The air conditioning in our room was a plus, as we stayed during a hot spell, but I found the noise as counter productive to my sleep.

I appreciate that Lamb Inn is located in the countryside, but think one or more electric fly killers would help reduce the flies buzzing around inside.

Cute place, but fire alarm handled very badly
Pros:

Pretty, quaint grounds with a nice beer garden

Cons:

The room was very small for a couple. We were woken up by a fire alarm at 5am one morning and it was going off for well over an hour before anyone turned up to sort it out. There was no emergency number to call, so guests were sat outside wondering whether there was a fire and how to get hold of anyone. There was little in the way of apology, no proactive contact to the guests to apologise, no attempt to make up for the disturbance.

Good home base for four nights in the Cotswolds.
Pros:

The continental breakfast was adequate for us, and we could have ordered a hot breakfast if we had chosen.

The location was quiet and convenient for car trips to surrounding villages. Shipton itself doesn’t have much going on, though I did enjoy a walk in the adjacent wild park.

The staff were very helpful, even finding some extra ways to support my comfort, seven months pregnant during a heat wave.

Cons:

The room doesn’t have storage for clothes, so we made do with window nooks. But the inn could install shelves easily enough.

excellent place to spend the night and have your dinners.
Pros:

The Inn which dates back almost 1000 years is an incredible find. Friendly staff, good food, great rooms and excellent atmosphere. I will likely come back when the need arises.

Cons:

Two points for improvement: the rooms had no light blocking blinds and the air made a lot of noise when on. For the rest, no things I didn't like.
