Cleanliness
9
Rooms repeatedly described as lovely, spacious, tidy and clean (including self-catering properties).
Service
9.5
Staff consistently praised as friendly, helpful and welcoming; individual standouts (e.g. restaurant manager, Kaz) noted. A few incidents of defensive responses and slow service in the restaurant slightly temper an otherwise excellent service record.
Location
9.5
Excellent location near the beach and railway station with gorgeous views and convenient parking; many guests praised the setting and vistas.
Room Quality
9
Rooms and self-catering units described as well equipped, beautifully furnished, comfortable and with great views.
Amenities
5.5
Mixed amenities: outdoor terrace and parking praised, but several practical issues reported (no slippers, no fridge in some units, electric charging didn’t work, awkward route from front to room).
Value for Money
9
Multiple guests described the hotel as terrific value for money and highlighted good value dining options.
Food and Beverage
7.5
Food receives strong praise for breakfasts (including excellent vegan and gluten-free options) and some standout dishes, but there are notable negatives: one very disappointing evening meal (soggy chips, uninspiring desserts), occasional slow service and cold toast at breakfast.
Overall Experience
9
Overall stays are very positive with many guests planning to return, praising the welcome, staff and accommodations; isolated negative dining experiences moderate but do not dominate the overall impression.

Food
Pros:

We were staying at apartment in Saltburn but walked down every day to have breakfast & dinner at The Spa. We couldn't fault the food or the service of the staff.

Nice; noisy; overpriced.
Pros:

Great location with sea views. Carpark. Outside terraces. Friendly staff. Smart, modern interior. We enjoyed our dinner but it's only a pub menu.

Cons:

It's popular but noisy. Lots of people eating and drinking, all talking at the tops of their voices. The waitress did ask one group to quieten and improve their language. Room has little soundproofing. Bathroom almost too small to use. Path and road down to beach steep enough to make a goat flinch! Vastly over-priced.

Disappointing attitude from bar staff
Pros:

Came in for drinks. Was very surprised at the bad attitude of the bar staff to paying customers.
Bar staff seemed miserable and treat customers more like a nuisance for actually wanting to spend their money there. One particular girl stood out to me as being extremely rude to a gentleman in front of me wanting to order food.
Very patronising and just not very nice and certainly not what I would expect from an establishment like this.
Maybe more training in customer service would be of benefit.
Would not rush back for this reason.

Great, relaxing and perfect location
Pros:

The hotel was great and in a perfect location when visiting saltburn. Everything was in walking distance and it was easy to find when arriving. We absolutely loved the roof too terrace and the food was delicious! The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were lovely and very cosy and welcoming. Having netflix and other streaming platforms in the TV was great! The server who was working when we had dinner on the roof top was so lovely, I didn't catch her name but she was so kind and helpful. The hotel and food was reasonably priced, however we did think breakfast should of been included in the price but it wasn't a big issue as we went elsewhere for breakfast.

Cons:

The only thing I didn't like and it's just a small issue is there was no where in the bathroom to hang a hand towel or your bath towers. Also the tea and coffee options that are put in your room we would of liked sweeteners as an option rather than just sugar and a few more milk sachets but this was the only thing.

Wonderful hotel!
Pros:

Fabulous hotel with some nice personal touches. Thank you to the housekeepers who gave us some surprise treats! We loved the gorgeous location, delicious breakfast, friendly efficient staff and large, nicely decorated rooms. The building seems new and there was a great atmosphere there with both tourists and locals using the restaurant and enjoying the outdoor terrace where there are wonderful views. I am so glad we chose to stay at this hotel, its amazing and we will definitely be back! :)

Cons:

Nothing

Disappointing.
Pros:

I was surprised this hotel qualifies as being 4 star. Our room was basic and the whole place could do with updating. Also expensive for what it is. Some staff eg Steve lovely, others grumpy. Definitely wouldn’t go back.

Excellent in every way
Pros:

Had an amazing 2 night stay here for a beautiful wedding.
Nothing to complain about at all. All staff were totally helpful friendly and professional.
A particular shout out for Mary Ann the new chef. The breakfast was utterly amazing, fresh and red hot too.
Thanks and we will be back.

Spa hotel visit.
Pros:

Beautiful location and great atmosphere. Situated on an elevated area overlooking the sea. Staff excellent and very friendly.
Rooms spacious and pleasantly decorated. Iron, fan and hairdryer provided. Hotel corridor carpets a bit tired and could so with a clean, especially with it being dog friendly. Food is wonderful. Breakfast included if you book direct with the property.

Fantastic Stay and Perfect for Dog Owners ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Pros:

We had a fantastic stay and wouldn't hesitate to return.

The hotel was beautiful, with a really welcoming atmosphere, but what stood out most was just how dog friendly it was. We stayed in one of the rooms with its own private entrance and key, giving us direct access outside. It made such a difference with our dog as there was no need to walk through the hotel every time we wanted to go out.

Our room was comfortable, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay.

Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and high-quality food. One morning we were able to sit outside and enjoy breakfast while watching dolphins swimming in the bay, which was such a special experience and made our stay even more memorable.

The staff were all friendly and welcoming throughout, and nothing felt like too much trouble.

A wonderful place to stay in Saltburn and one we'd happily recommend to anyone, especially if you're travelling with a dog. We can't wait to come back!

Nice food, awful service
Pros:

Have been a few times as it is my elderly mother’s favourite place to eat. The food is generally good but each time I come away vowing never again as the service and attitude is so bad. Other reviews back this up. Arrived today and the car park was full so that slowed us down a bit. Told the bar staff we had a dog friendly table booked to be told to go and find it myself as the name was on the table. Ok. No menu on the table so back to the bar only to be told to go and ask for them myself at the restaurant. Ok. You have to order all food and drinks at the bar. It took ages for the plates to be cleared then as we waited for dessert we were told the table was needed back and we had to have dessert outside. Fortunately it was a sunny day so we wrapped my 93 year old mum up and went outside. The food and location is nice but the price is not justified when you have collect your own cutlery etc. I’m done with the place! Awful.😞
