Despite being just a stones throw from the A12 this hotel is delightfully and deceptively hidden away in a gully off a quiet single track road.
The hotel is packed full of authentic, rural, rustic charm and ‘olde worlde’ elegance. It is very warm and welcoming.
Check-in was friendly, quick and easy. A nice touch being offered good quality complimentary ice creams on our arrival too.
The standard signature room we booked was fine. A little on the small side but perfectly functional and equipped. Whilst there is no aircon anywhere in the hotel, a large fan was provided and we were delighted the room also included a good sized fridge. As with many areas in the hotel be careful of the low beams, especially in the door spaces. These are not always signed.
The grounds and outside areas are delightful, peaceful and quiet and perfect for an evening stroll. On one such venture we discovered the chicken coop hidden away in one corner of the garden. Whilst there is a lovely lake here it is a shame it is heavily blighted by algae.
The highlight of our stay was the quite magnificent pool and outside spa area. Never in our travels have we ever experienced anything quite as impressive as this. Lovely long, deep swim-able pool and relaxing hot tubs, loungers, chairs and for the very brave an ice bath!
Whilst we didn’t eat in the restaurant, the bar food was good and we very much enjoyed the breakfast experience. The full English was tasty and the waffles were scrumptious! Special mention to our lovely waiter, Len, who was very friendly and helpful.
So if you want a SECKluded, afFORDable HALLowed stay then this is the place to come! We will mostly certainly return very soon!
Some nice staff, Clara and Chloe especially. Thanks for showing us the nicer dog friendly courtyard rooms we could have stayed in. Daniel the new GM did offer us one free night to compensate for our poor stay which is a very kind gesture. We would have preferred they get it right the first time around and offered us the slightly bigger room given the heat and our poor dog suffering.
Poor value for money considering £300 room fees for a two night stay. (Don’t stay in 37B) We had a tiny courtyard bedroom which was windowless except for one tiny bedroom window. There is NO AIR CONDITIONING in most rooms in the hotel (so don’t stay in summer in a heatwave as you will bake like we did! The hotel does not offer portable aircon units, dog cooling mats or ice pack fans that can cool a room properly. Our dog was panting in the night, and we applied cold flannels to try to cool him down; animal welfare issues spring to mind. The hotel should not have accepted our dog booking knowing how hot the rooms are or explained there is no airflow or aircon. We just had old fans blowing the hot air around. It is 4 stars apparently. Uncaring reception manager’s excuse was it’s a listed building. We were offered to move room to another, no aircon, courtyard room with small window but we didn’t think it was worth the hassle. Dog owners unable to stay in the main hotel building bedrooms, or eat in the main restaurant. The spa and pool is run independently from the hotel. Residents (without dogs) can use the spa freely only between 8-10am or 6-8pm. All other times you must prebook. Restaurant closes at 9.30pm so timings are tight in the evening. My husband tried to use spa at 10.30am on a Monday morning and was refused entry but it did not look busy. Previous guest clothing found under chest of drawers in our room indicating poor attention to cleanliness. Dreadful water pressure in the shower. Bath chipped was filled and carpet stained. Fridge shoved by the bedroom door. All unconsidered and poor touches. The room next to ours was unoccupied and unbooked on our check in. Was slightly bigger with a bigger window but we were not offered this room when checking in. Management attitudes need to change and treat paying guests with more respect & hospitality offering the better rooms available.
Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely stay and fantastic spa.

A beautiful building in a lovely setting. Such attentive and friendly staff.
Location was great. The character of the property was great.
Our room was dusty. The top of the wardrobe which was arched so you could see it had not been cleaned ( room 31) likewise in the bathroom some of the fitments appeared to be paint stained. We were woken in the morning by staff chatting.
Really lovely day at Seckford Hall with a group of girlfriends - beautiful location, fantastic pool and excellent treatments followed by a cream tea in the sun! All the staff were so lovely and helpful which made the day even nicer and so relaxing.
Staff were excellent and interested in us - food was good - especially the breakfast - Room was clean and well stocked with all that was needed
We were given a room with a balcony and excellent facilities. The spa was well worth a visit.
The Dinners in the Restaurant were good quality with plenty of choice - but like some other places they kid themselves that good means that you get less on your plate and pay much more for it - a shame as it conveys the wrong message
Excellent setting, lovely food, staff were very good.
No air con in the room
We were only visiting for the 1 night but what an absolute delight it was.
A stunning, and spotlessly clean historic building, in some beautiful grounds.
We stayed in the cottage adjoining the spa, and whilst it looked a little tired in places it really was nothing to detract from the decor, space and furnishings which made for a superb, and very quiet place to spend the night.
The food is delicious and the alcohol selection is extensive and very reasonably priced.
The biggest selling point on the day, and something the management should be very proud of (and hopefully recognise) is what fantastic staff they have. All were so friendly, approachable and entertaining. Nothing seemed a hassle for them, even in the small hours of the morning at the bar.
Amazing location and food amazing. Staff friendly and caters for your every need. spa was full so no room on sun loungers.
I absolutely fell in love with Seckford Hall. Gorgeous and spacious room overlooking the courtyard, a lovely welcome by all the staff, the dinner was outstanding and the whole team was so friendly and welcoming. The Spa in the barn is also a-mazing!
