Nice stay for a wedding.
Pros:

The hotel was a little tired, but clean and comfortable. We liked using the swimming pool, the bar was pleasant despite the large groups of golfers and the restaurant was friendly, although the food was ok. However, it was the perfect base for attending a wedding nearby. The shuttle service was a great addition and the staff were friendly.

Cons:

Carpets were a bit grubby in the room. Breakfast was expensive considering it was being packed away and there was little left.

Unprofessional, told me the spa is open when it wasn’t, charged me twice for my room, asked for birthday balloons for my husbands 30th and they put up birthday boy banner instead, embarrassing.

Other than the cleanliness and temperature was an okay stay. Wouldn’t stay here again though.
Pros:

The location was gorgeous. Staff were friendly. Especially the service team.

Cons:

For such a “luxurious” hotel I’d expect air conditioning in the rooms and not just a table fan blowing hot air around the room. The bathroom was very very dirty. There was blood stains under the sink and the floor and shower was dirty. We had to clean it ourselves quickly as we had a small child with us. The carpet was okay despite many marks and the furniture was even broken or very fragile.
We ate at the terrace restaurant on the last evening and instead of telling us what isn’t available to eat they let us order 3 times and after every order the waiter came back out and told us it wasn’t available. Maybe we should have asked what wasn’t available after the first time but I’m sure this is the job of a waiter.

Pros:

The room was spacious and was a pleasant temperature. The breakfast was good.

Cons:

There was a large amount of hair on the back of the bath and up the tiles that shouldn't have been there. The chairs in the room were stained which I wouldn't expect. This made us question the cleanliness of the rest of the room.

Overall it was ok, but as always the niggles tend to stay in the mind rather than the positives.
Pros:

First two courses of dinner were very good and dining room staff very helpful

Once I'd taken the (hot, synthetic) duvet out of it's cover so I could just use the cover to sleep under, I slept well.

Cons:

Breakfast buffet was a big disappointment, cold plates, rubber fried eggs and dry black pudding, bacon passable. Probably very good if you get there when freshly put out!

Bedroom carpet felt grubby and the shower door needs cleaning around the base etc. Couldn't help but notice it when sitting on the toilet!

Being a big room, there was lots of space for a luggage rack, instead of having to have the case on the floor.

Wouldn't stay again, rooms need upgrading

The location to the wedding we attended

Cons:

The hotel looked nice on arrival, reception was lovely, the receptionist was the first red flag, tried to charge us for breakfast twice even through we had booked B&B. Luckily i queried this straight away, someone in our party did not and got charged twice. On check out, no "how was your stay, was everything ok" nothing just a grumpy receptionist!

The rooms were more like a Travelodge from the 90s, very old furniture, stained carpets, very uncomfortable beds. Even had a storage heater! As it caters for weddings and mainly golfers, it is very noisy, slamming doors at 1am and golfers up and about at 6am. Not worth the £140 per night we paid.

Breakfast is all self service, fine nothing special - doesn't help only having 1 coffee machine to cater for a lot of guests.

Overall staff food and location. Amazing. Rooms are very dated.
