Location good for walking into city centre. Breakfast freshly cooked and is first class. Staff really friendly and helpful.

Lage zur Innenstadt aber doch ruhige Lage. Parkplatz hinterm Haus, schöner Außenbereich zum Sitzen, reichliches Frühstück.

The hotel itself is OK. The breakfast was tasty. The location is excellent.
The person at check-in was incompetent and unprofessional. First, she attempted to question that I paid for breakfast through Booking despite a printed confirmation which unambiguously stated that "Breakfast is included in the final price". Only a threat to call Booking has stopped these misguided attempts. Second, despite my request for a quieter room, she gave me a room in a basement under the breakfast space on the side of the building facing the railroad. Just think about it: From early morning people would be stomping over the ceiling of that "quiet" room in addition to the trains passing by! I am sorry, but when you employ such incompetent staff, you should not expect more than 7 out of 10. I am sure you can do better than that.
The best part was a small but well equipped gym and the hotel is only 10-12min walk to York centre
For the price, breakfast should have been included.

Lovely and helpful staff. Cosy hotel situated well within walking distance to the town centre.
Staff were so friendly and very helpful. The location is fantastic, so close to everything but far enough away that it's very peaceful at night. We loved the garden to sit out in the evening.

Nice level of warmth in room. Able to open windows. Very good breakfast fora gluten free person (yoghurt/milk in particular).helpful, cheerful staff (when we had to borrow some cutlery, or explaining how to get round town on our first day).
A small fridge in the room please. Brown gluten free bread please, not white.
