old hotel a bit delapidated but great spot
Pros:

the hotel is on the site of a Joan d'Arc encounter with the english. The old ford adds a nice set of rapids to an otherwise dull river full of sandbanks. the town is nice and has 2 decent restaurants and a bakery, other riverside villages not so good. hotel not occupied during the day and keys come via a machine. Staff grumpy but obliging. Hotel restaurant same 3 plate menu every day, no vegetarian and fairly stodgy. Inner courtyard (with tower) has a frog pond and some overgrown grottos, good for a shady picnic. Blois and Amboise about an hours drive. No public transport and stinging entry prices, higher for non EU countries (especially the english).

Cons:

There is a swimming baths at the bridge to Meung but the locals dont like the english and enforce a policy of short shorts (budgy smugglers). They do take your money and then refuse entry. Bagnaide Interdit signs are everywhere and at no point along the entire river did we find a place to appraoch the water or were able to swim. Police on cycles patrol the banks. However, just below the ford there is a hidden sandy spit where its perfectly safe to swim in chest high water, lovely.

De omgeving is prachtig maar het ontbijt heeft onze ervaring echt geen goed gedaan.

De wespen zaten overal en aan de drink machine.
Wij hebben uiteindelijk niet ontbeten, dus weggegooid geld

Ottima posizione, luogo ricco di magia.
Staff presente, camera pulita.
Non abbiamo mangiato al ristorante e non abbiamo fatto colazione sul posto.
Nonostante il caldo durante il nostro soggiorno, in stanza presente un ventilatore e la vicinanza con il fiume permette di avere un po di vento aprendo le finestre di notte
