Stairs!
Lovely old traditional building
Nothing
Beautiful hotel - bedrooms are stunning - lovely outside area - fabulous breakfast
Nothing it was all perfect
Quaint and charming property, very nice evening meal.
Room was stiflingly hot, despite being around 25 degrees outside. Room limited on space, just enough room to move around bed and not much else. Breakfast on first morning was considerably overcooked.
Friendly staff and good location for our purpose. Unique character due to the age of the building.
This is a very old pub with 7 rooms above. Be aware that due to the age of the building the ceilings are low and bathroom was very small. Not suitable if you have mobility issues due to steep stairs.
Stunning location and pub. I found it easily following sat-nav and there were plenty of parking spaces available. The design is sensitive to the Grade II Listed status - lots of original features and quirks. The location offers some pleasant local walks - I headed towards the Thames towpath and enjoyed the peace and quiet. I had a light evening meal, which was delicious.
Breakfast was included in the price - excellent value. Due to the heat my appetite was low, so I opted for the continental choices and a lighter cooked option - unfortunately the latter was inedible. I was offered an alternative but couldn't face it by that point
This is more due to the weather conditions, it was a very warm day - sadly due to the Listed status I imagine - there was no air conditioning - so the room was only just bearable from a Dyson fan provided. The bathroom was a little compact - again, working with the existing footprint.
Really quirky and memorable. Spotless, individual room and fabulous staff.
Nothing
Staff were really pleasant and helpful.

Lovely character.
Although there was a fan in the room it was still too hot.
Cosy atmosphere
Very restricted parking available
Also breakfast wasn’t great
The location is fabulous, walking distance to the river, and lovely village of Sonning. We found the breakfast had a great selection, having the choice of a large menu, plus fruit, juices, coffees, cereal, and croissants. The staff were great, and we enjoyed a couple of evening meals we had in the restaurant. It’s very quiet hotel at night time, no passing traffic etc so there’s no disturbance through the night. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
Our room was very small, not really anywhere to hang our clothes or keep our large suitcases. The bed wasn't particularly comfortable. It had a mattress topper which was too large for the bed, so it felt like we were rolling off. As we were staying for a week, it would have been nice to have the bathroom cleaned and sheets changed more.
Our Welcome was pleasant, the room was lovely and the dinner was good
Location was ideal for what we needed .
Parking on site was good and the fact the Bull is Dog Friendly was ideal.
Breakfast was good too .
No real dislikes - the Bull was ideal for the length of time and kind of stay we required
Bar & food
Travel
A charming historic building. The room was tastefully furnished and well-equipped. The dinner was excellent. The check-in staff were very professional and courteous.
Aside from the details, the overall rating was good.
A somewhat uneasy rest (room overlooking the outside tables and parking lot) until closing. Staff at dinner: when asked for a knife, they handed it over by taking it by the blade... At breakfast, cleanliness: dirt and dust on the table legs, crumbs left on the table, salt shaker with abandoned remnants of salt and pepper. Truly unpleasant. Overall breakfast quality was definitely a step down from dinner. Staff at checkout were cold.
The room and bathroom were lovely, although the loo seat needs some tightening. Rooibos tea was a nice surprise.
Das Zimmer war klein, aber sehr gemütlich und sauber. Wir hatten dort auch hervorragendes Abendessen, und das Frühstück war ebenso sehr gut. Service top!
