Absolutely fabulous stay at Gerlóczy Boutique Hotel, Budapest

This beautiful boutique hotel deserves 5+ stars — and at a very reasonable price, it felt like an absolute steal.

The building itself dates back to the 1800s and has a fascinating history. More recently, it was converted from four very large apartments into beautifully appointed hotel rooms, while retaining much of its historic character and charm.

The whole experience actually felt a little like staying at the Four Seasons. Every member of staff, from the concierge and front desk to the housekeeping team, was exceptional. My personal favourite was Sonia, whose warm personality, genuine friendliness, and incredible attention to detail were simply heartwarming. The housekeeping team, led by Christina, was equally wonderful.

Nothing was ever too much trouble. Staff remembered our names, greeted us with genuine smiles, and consistently had a warm, professional and very much “can-do” attitude. It’s that level of personal service that really sets a hotel apart.

Our room was spotless and beautifully maintained, with premium bath products, luxurious bed linens, and all the little touches you would expect from a high-end property.

The location is fantastic. The Danube is about a 5-minute walk away, and St. Stephen’s Basilica is around 8 minutes. The hotel is also surrounded by excellent restaurants — although, frankly, you don’t need to leave the hotel to eat well.

The hotel restaurant was a real highlight. The service was professional, friendly and exceptionally attentive, while the chef is an absolute rockstar.

Breakfast was included in our package and was nothing short of an extravaganza. The Eggs Benedict, available with either salmon or Hungarian ham, were fantastic. The homemade sourdough was excellent, accompanied by what may well have been the best butter I’ve ever tasted. The duck liver pâté was another standout, as were the scrambled eggs — with the deepest yellow, most delicious yolks imaginable. The spinach quiche also deserves a special mention.

Dinner was equally impressive. The risotto with duck confit was delicious. It was perhaps a little on the soupy side, but the flavours were absolutely out of this world.

Overall, Gerlóczy Boutique Hotel exceeded our expectations in every respect. Beautiful surroundings, a fantastic location, immaculate rooms, exceptional food, and — most importantly — genuinely wonderful people.

We loved every minute of our stay and would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommended!

It actually felt like the Four Seasons - every staff member from the concierge/front desk; my favorite was Sonia, whose friendly demeanor and attention to detail were just heartwarming. My friends favorite was Zsolt who showed no end of creativity and critical thinking, and wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty too! Also a big thank you the housekeeping team led by Christina, what a talent!

Rooms spotless and well maintained. Premium bath products and bed linens. Location is ideal - walking distance from the Danube - 5 mins, Basilica - 8 mins. The hotel is surrounded by excellent restaurants - but the hotel restaurant was delightful too. Staff were professional, friendly and extremely attentive - and the chef is a rockstar. Piękny hotel, piękne wnętrza zarówno pokoju jak i samego hotelu. Otoczenie ciche, aktualnie roboty w sąsiednim budynku, ale nie jest to uciążliwe z punktu widzenia klienta. Pyszne, obfite śniadania. Przemiła obsługa. Możliwość przechowania bagażu przed zamelfowaniem i po wymeldowaniu. Bardzo polecam!

La ubicación, el personal y la limpieza

The property is centrally located but is still quiet at night permitting sleep. The property itself is luxurious, opulent, and has a French fail to it. The hotel restaurant was the best restaurant that we ate at in Budapest and is a real asset! The staff, especially the reception and kitchen staff, were excellent and made us feel very welcome. We would definitely stay again at this hotel!

Otelin konumu çok merkezi ve önemli turistik noktalara yürüyerek rahatlıkla gidilebiliyor. Odalar temiz ve konforluydu. Odamda yaşanan elektrik arızasından dolayı hemen bana başka bir oda ayarlamaları çok hoştu. Özellikle resepsiyondaki Zsoltı beyefendiye kibarlığından ve yardımseverliğinden ötürü özel teşekkürler.

Quiet location in the middle of the city close to the river. It also has a superb restaurant with attentive staff. Excellent.
