As part of our continued commitment to enhance our property and service, we are currently in the process of renovating and renewing the front of the hotel for the safety of our guests and staff. As a result, there may be some construction noise. The work will be ongoing until further notice.

We currently have scaffolding up at the front of the property for essential works being carried out on the facia of the building. The scaffolding is not affecting any of our guest room views and will be in place for the foreseeable.

We apologize for any inconvenience it may cause and your understanding and support during the renovation period is much appreciated.

Please kindly note, any rates inclusive of food, is to be taken in the Crescent Restaurant only.

At check-in all guests must provide a physical valid credit or debit card for a pre-authorisation.

Upon check-out if no balance is owed, the pre-authorisation is cancelled and depending on the card issuer the funds will go back as available in 5 to 10 banking days.

The facilities but not the condition of the room probably justifies the 4 star accreditation.
Pros:

The situation of this historic crescent is delightful and the staff in the restaurant and reception were friendly and helpful. The space in the suit was excellent and the view across the bay to Brixham was a delight to wake up to.

Cons:

The room was dirty and appeared to have suffered from a very busy summer season without any respite and requires a very deep clean. The carpet was covered in stains particularly around the bathroom door and settee area; it was crusty to the touch in some places. The settee had the remnants of food in the upholstery and desiccated food remains underneath it. There were food/ drink stains on the wall. The housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired: bins emptied, cups washed and bedding tidied but no other cleaning was volunteered until it was necessarily requested on day 3 by which stage the carpet needed hoovering and the toilet needed cleaning! The bedding was clean but the duvet cover had holes.

Good Torquay seaside hotel
Pros:

Sea views were lovely. Grand old building. Good public rooms. Large bedroom (junior suite) with large bathroom and very good housekeeping (tea, water etc). Quiet. Friendly staff. Very good cooked breakfast, excellent coffee. Bar terrace overlooking the sea.

Cons:

Bar selection was a little limited. Parking was ok but I fear that it would have been a problem if the hotel had been full. Only one small lift.

Pros:

Friendly receptionists, nice food. Beautiful building, lovely position. Free parking. Quiet, peaceful night sleep.

Cons:

They asked if it was a special occasion and offered us an upgrade upsell beforehand. Nothing mentioned during our visit.
Bedsheets had a couple of sticky lumps though obviously freshly laundered. It would have been seen on making up the bed.
Didn't check if our food was OK at dinner.
Breakfast table needed wiping from dinner the night before. They don't wipe they just flick the crumbs off onto the chairs and floor.
Carpets need a professional clean. Walls in our room are really dusty in the corners. A little more attention to detail and it would be a great experience.

Comfortable stay in a quiet, picturesque location
Pros:

The hotel is in a quiet location with parking for guests (although there is limited parking, I was always able to find a spot somewhere). It is reminiscent of the 'old school' English holiday hotels with a maze of corridors and stairs to navigate to get to my room. There is a bar and restaurant as well as free wifi and free parking. The staff are friendly and polite and the location is very convenient for access to Torquay with a 10-15 minute scenic walk along the coast.

Cons:

I picked the single room and it is very small. The flat screen TV is mounted on the wall above the bathroom door as mounting it in the direct line of sight to the bed would mean you bump into it while walking around the room. It was very much a 'stand-on-the-bed-to-close-the-door' sized room. While there is a lift to get to the floor, depending on your room, you have to navigate fire doors and flights of stairs which was difficult since I was traveling with a heavy roller bag.

Brilliant accommodation, wonderful view and good food

A great hotel that was more than we expected for what we paid. Amazing views and very clean.
