Clean and comfortable. Walking distance to the train station over 15 minutes and city centre slightly less. We have stayed onlly 1 night but would gladly recommend.

Location is good, refurb is bringing the hotel up a few notches from my first stay a few years back.
Hotel is undergoing a refurb ..I had no hot water for the three nights of my stay.
Unsure if this was due to refurb work or boiler fault.
Staff dealt with it as well as they could but they were full for the duration so I couldnt move rooms.
Easy, quick check in. Room was clean and the air conditioning was very needed in this heat. Fantastic!

Free parking, comfy room and nice breakfast.
Slow service in the bar, disabled alarm went off and was woken up by staff banging at my door.
Arriving and finding that the room was ready two hours early, as requested. This was important as it was a roasting hot day and I wanted to shower before going to a party, rather than turning up sweaty and dishevelled. Even better, they'd stuck a card in the socket so that the air con had been going and the room was chilled. This exceeded my expectations as many hotels forget to do this.
Two things could improve: 1. Pre-arrival coms could have been better. I kept receiving pointless AI generated messages along the lines of "We're so excited about [insert marketing nonsense]." I just wanted an answer to my question about early check in but didn't get one. In fact they did let me check in early, which was great, so why not tell me before I arrived? 2. One other possible improvement would be training for the receptionist. There's no reason why she should be genuinely pleased to see new guests arriving, but perhaps she could learn how to fake it.

The rooms are comfortable while being small. The new shower room refurbishments are good although no hot water for the entire trip was very frustrating with a young son staying with us.
The lack of hot water for all three nights was very frustrating. Being told the hotel was under refurbishment AFTER we had booked was sharp practice & nicely covered the possibility of issues without highlighting that it should be a consideration especially on holiday & with a young son in our bedroom.
No hot water, wasn't told of that on arrival. Poor breakfast quality.
