The personnel were very professional and very helpful.
I stayed at the Dream Hotel on 16th St. a number of times in the past. Unfortunately, this time the Dream turned out to be a nightmare. Unfortunately, there was very little follow-through and my room wasn’t cleaned for three of the four days in my stay. Housekeeping did not follow up on my request with the front desk to remake my bed, clean up the room and bring new towels. I was very disappointed with the follow-through.
Great place to catch the sites of NYC, the Intrepid and The Edge are right down the street along with other NYC sites. Great food all around and the subway was nearby to see other parts of NYC
Location
Tiny insects in my bed, situation poorly handled by staff
Great location, good potential, the hotel has good bones, but the service needs a lot of improvement. The staff is kind and respectful, but you can't stay long time in a hotel where you don't have potable water, nor amenities refresh. It was hard to spend 6 nights there without a coffee machine, or a small fridge. It was also a strange setting for breakfast.
Why on earth someone would put a nightclub on the top floor of a hotel is beyond me. Thousands of dollars for a hotel room in New York City and you can't sleep with the thumping noise and vibrations coming through the walls early in the morning hours. I needed a good place to rest for work and instead I got a chaotic party house to come back to in the evenings. Utter nightmare.
Good locatioan
“Poor service, terrible attitude from the staff. It left us with an unpleasant feeling.”
The resort fee is outrageous and only gets you 2 bottles of water, WIFI (which should be included anyway for any hotel), and discounts at a few restaurants. What is it there for? If the hotel wants more money, then just increase how much the room costs. There was no free coffee in the lobby nor any coffeemaker in the rooms. We only stayed here because it was close to the venue we were going to.

I recently stayed at the Dream Downtown using a Suite Upgrade Award. I was initially concerned about noise based on other reviews, but my assigned inward-facing suite (combined with the pool being closed for the season) made it one of the quietest rooms I have stayed in within Manhattan. I didn't even hear typical street traffic or sirens.
The property has an eclectic design with maritime influences. Upgrading to a suite highlighted these design choices, and the signature porthole windows were a unique touch.
The management team provided great service and checked in to ensure my stay was going well. The staff also showed strong attention to detail. Upon check-in, I noticed a minor issue with a bathroom cabinet door not closing properly. The next day, it had been fixed completely without me ever reporting it. It is notable to see maintenance issues resolved proactively during routine cleaning.
The food provided for the Globalist breakfast was good. However, fellow Globalists should note that this property usually adheres strictly to the Hyatt breakfast entitlements (i.e. no free ordering off the menu that some Hyatt hotels sometimes allow).
I recommend the Dream Downtown for its attentive staff and unique design. If you are sensitive to noise, I highly suggest requesting an inward-facing room to ensure a quiet stay.
Both Latrell and Kye at the front desk at the Dream downtown NYC were extra helpful and kind. Lobby is lovely. Room was clean and nice.
The manager Sierra exceeded my expectations. Her thoughtfulness and going out of her way to make sure everything was handled with top tier services needs to be recognized.
Posizione
La stanza al secondo piano e sull’ingresso dell’hotel era troppo rumorosa.
Nice hotel in an area of town where they are scarce. They are trying to create a vibe, but that means the lobby is dark (hard to see which credit card I was holding when I checked in). Noisy if your room is on the street side - lots of truck noise from the huge Google building across the way until pretty late, then folks talking after exiting the night club downstairs into the wee hours. The room was small but clean and well-equipped and the staff were friendly.
This hotel is terrible on so many fronts. If you have a choice do not stay here. Rooms were so loud, soundproofing non-existent, no coffee in the rooms, and worst of all the beds were so miserable I couldn’t sleep.
I recently stayed at Dream Downtown in NYC and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the hotel itself is clean, stylish, and beautifully designed—the aesthetic really stands out and creates a great first impression.
However, the check-in process was frustrating. We were told we would receive a text when our room was ready, but that system didn’t seem to be working. There were several other guests also waiting for notifications that never came, and the staff didn’t appear to be aware of the issue. We ended up waiting until 4 PM, which is the standard check-in time anyway, so the text system didn’t add any value.
We had an event to get to that day, so getting into the room earlier would have made a big difference. Better communication and awareness from the staff about the status of room readiness would have really improved the experience.
Another small but noticeable issue was the downstairs coffee spot—it didn’t open at 7 AM as expected, and there were several customers waiting for it to open. It added to the sense that operations weren’t running as smoothly as they could have been.
Additionally, there was a light in our room that flickered throughout the night, which made it difficult to fully relax and get a good night’s sleep.
Overall, the hotel looks great, but the service, maintenance, and coordination could use improvement.
I had a very disappointing experience. I was placed on the 11th floor directly below the rooftop bar/nightclub, and the noise was unbearable. The DJ and heavy bass go until 4:00 AM every night, which is important for future guests to be aware of when booking. The vibration was so intense my bed was shaking, and even with the sound machine on full, it did nothing. I called the front desk multiple times between 1:00–3:00 AM, and the only solution was to downgrade rooms in the middle of the night. I had to pack and move at 3:00 AM and didn’t get to sleep until nearly 5:00 AM.
The shower was also a major issue. The water had an unpleasant odor, and the temperature constantly fluctuated between scalding hot and freezing cold, making it impossible to shower comfortably.
The room itself did not match what was advertised. I booked a King Gold room expecting a dresser as shown in the photos, but there was none—only a very small unit inside the closet, mostly taken up by the mini fridge and safe. The mini fridge was fully stocked, so it couldn’t be used for personal items. There was also no microwave or coffee setup, and overall the room felt extremely bare-bones compared to what was advertised.
The compensation offered was minimal (just the price difference for the downgraded room and one night of facility fees waived), which does not reflect the level of disruption or inconvenience. Staff also came across as dismissive rather than helpful.
If this property is going to operate a nightclub above guest rooms, there needs to be proper soundproofing or clear disclosure. As it stands, it is not a place where you can reasonably expect to sleep
I would recommend you staying at a different brand. Poor customer service and quality for price is not there. Front desk staff is rude and unconcerned with the needs of guests.
