We thought of cancelling when we saw the weather forecast. But really glad we didn’t. Great place.
Pros:

The team were super helpful.
The bed was comfy, and I loved the view at the back of the hotel.
The ceiling fan was fantastic as the weather was horribly hot.
Supplied bottled water such a thoughtful touch. Thank you.
Toiletries lovely.
Breakfast was lovely and the young lady looking after the breakfast room was super kind and friendly and helpful. Takes a lot to keep that up when the weathers so hot. Thank you.

Cons:

Nothing that the hotel could do anything about. The only thing I didn’t like was busy road outside. Everything else was lovely.

Amazing customer service.
Pros:

Wow, these folks are amazing, we had a few asks and nothing was a problem for them -customer service done so well and always with a smile and great banter. Well done 10 star plus.

Lovely. Would stay again in cooler weather!
Pros:

Staff were lovely.
Due to extreme heat there was a free supply of ice cold bottled water.
Breakfast was lovely and staff very attentive, offering extras if required.
Good size room, very clean and comfortable.

Cons:

We visited in an extreme heatwave and whilst there was a ceiling fan, a form of air conditioning would have reduced the heat in the room which was 31° overnight. We do appreciate that this is a big ask in English hotels !
Situated on a very busy main road with traffic noise all through the night.

Very enjoyable stay, great for a break from routine.
Pros:

Our stay was great. No complaints at all. Lovely big room and the hotel is very conveniently placed for exploring the town. Friendly service and excellent food, perfect for a few days break.

Cons:

Noise from busy road outside especially as we are used to a silent neighbourhood! But this is no reflection on Castle Hotel since an old coaching inn is expected to be on the main road!!

Wir würden hier gerne wieder übernachten, wenn wir erneut nach England in diese Gegend kämen.
Pros:

Das Zimmer war knapp bemessen, aber für 2 Übernachtungen als Zwischenstopp passend. Dusche-WC neu, sauber, völlig okay. Frühstücksraum ist groß und mit schönem alten Mobiliar.
Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam, der Kaffee wurde auf Wunsch nachgeschenkt. Der Gastraum war urig und das Bier der örlichen Brauerei Wadworth schmeckte auch! Da Fußball-WM war, kamen wir abends auch mit den Devizern ins Gespräch.
Das Haus liegt im Stadtzentrum, ein öffentlicher Parkplatz ist gegenüber. Er hat eine ticketfreie Kennzeichen-Erfassung und ist nachts von 6pm bis morgens 8am kostenfrei. Der Marktplatz ist schnell erreichbar. An der Rückseite des Hotels steht die imposante St. Mary's Church mit schönen alten Grabsteinen. Der Weg vom Hotel zufuß zu den Caen Hill Locks macht Sinn und Spaß und ist eine willkommene kleine Wanderung am historischen Kennet-und-Avon-Kanal entlang.

Cons:

Das Haus liegt an der wichtigen Straße, nachts war es verkehrsmäßig etwas laut. Es ist ein schönes altes Haus mit großen Fenstern, nur die Fensterrahmen müssten mal abgeschliffen und neu gestrichen werden - zum Werterhalt.

Fabulous stay at the Castle for a weekend break and ideally located to explore the surrounding area.
