We received a complimentary upgrade to a luxurious room situated in the courtyard.
The staff are wonderful, when we arrived I had mistakenly booked the wrong weekend and they changed it at no additional cost which was a lovely ...and got me out of an impending dog house 😬.
We have stayed here a few times , a lovely hotel in a beautiful village.

Was given a dirty room in error, it was an unfortunate start.
There was crashing below my room until the early hours. It was a weekend break to relax and I left more tired that when I arrived, sadly.

Pillows were not good. Amenities in room quite basic, it's an old hotel that still needs some updating.
The shower pressure was dire. There is an advisory note in the bathroom not to drink the water yet only two small bottles of water were provided in the room. This is not sufficient.
Location excellent, bed was comfortable
Not good value for money. More than double the price of a Premier Inn, but with a smaller room, with no air conditioning. Only two 'English Breakfast' tea bags, no fridge. Room very warm. Although fans were provided, it was too warm by most people's standards for good sleep. I expected more , when paying over £200 for one night in a very cramped double room, and that was without paying for breakfast.
Excellent last minute stay lady on reception was really helpful to accommodate us,as we had our pet dog with us

Really good courtyard rooms and great food in the pub
When arrived we eventually met with a young man that chucked our room card, he said we were up stairs we asked about food that evening and was told it was a long wait for food and even drinks then he rushed off. He didn't give us chance to ask about registering our car if needed or when breakfast times. So we decided to go else where for a drink we found him very rude. The next morning we could still got any help and ending googling the time and had to ask a work man that was very helpful shame you hotel staff isn't.

Very good location in the village and next to the deer park. Good parking. Very good breakfasts and evening meals. Helpful and friendly receptionists.Clean rooms.
Some,but not all,of the staff serving at mealtimes weren’t very friendly.
No fault of the hotel, but it was extremely hot in our room as stayed during a heatwave. A fan was available.

Friendly staff. Easy check-in and checkout. Great town to stay in prior to leaving UK. A short 75 mins to LHR.

Location, building character
The whole place needs a good clean up and some renovation. The bedrooms quite nice, but the bathrooms are very tired. Toilet was stained inside, yellow marks on shower flimsy curtain. Chipped paint etc. Just needs an update as bathrooms get so battered and it shows. The restaurant offers uninteresting menu, more like pub grub, the usual pizza, kofta and chicken wings. They used to have a more inspiring choices. Also stopped selling Aspal cider !!
