Tired and Shabby
Pros:

Location to the city was very good.

Cons:

Whole place is looking tired and shabby, Reception area is out of the 80;s and shoddy.
Room was clean enough, but tired, chipped furniture, marked carpets, silicone on the bathroom peeling. It was just a bit . . . old, and that isn;t referencing the actual building. I have stayed in period properties before where the decor is much more appealing.
Breakfast was unfortunate - the power was off for the coffee machine and the toaster - the staff did there best, but it was just another sign of the place being under funded.
I am being critical because the price reflected a better experience than what was delivered.

Centrally located handy to old town.

Cons:

No hot water and staff did nothing to resolve the issue until the next morning. A number of guests had the same issue and this was acknowledged by the reception staff. However there was no offer to shift us from our room to another room that did have hot water until the next morning when after complaining once again we were offered to use another room with hot water to have a shower. No offer was made to reduce the rate we paid either. All reception were prepared to do was apologise for the inconvenience.

I love the Hotel and the service was excellent.
Pros:

The staff are lovely! the location is wonderful and the history of the building both fascinating and unmatched. Afternoon Tea was okay.
The hotel needs upgrading - the lighting and decor are very dated and parts of the hotel look as if they are set in a time warp. I love this hotel; I was a student in the city in 1970's when it was definitely at least 4* and full of visiting, curious Americans. I ADORE the courtyard area and the Bar is excellent and stocked with good wines! My bathroom and bedlinen were lovely and clean. Thank you!!

Disappointed
Pros:

Not to much to be honest, booked car parking, didn’t happen. Said they’d not received application. It was grubby in places. Over priced at £ 175 no breakfast. I know it was city centre but there was a wedding on the night we stayed wished we could’ve been told. Worst of all, all messages from you start ‘Hi Bone’ not Mr! Not Alan ! Staff when I mentioned anything dismissed my complaints

Great Hotel full of history
Pros:

The staff were lovely, we even got to meet the resident cat, the hotel has some amazing history loved the atmosphere in here very clean room too.

Cons:

The only thing was the king bed wasn't very comfortabe.
