Charming old hotel with staff that all smiled ! Dinner was excellent on both nights we were there . Highly recommend !
Four nights at this hotel gave us the opportunity to meet a lot of staff. All very positive. As other guests have pointed out, the hotel is now rather old and, therefore, could do with some renovation but think what it would cost and the resulting uplift in prices!
First Visit To This Hotel & Had a Great Experience
Hotel Many Years Ago Served The Now Closed Railway Station & During The 2nd World War Was A School For Evacuated Schoolgirls So Lots Of History To This Hotel
Hotel is Just Outside Keswick Town Centre Which Is A Short Walk Away , Fantastic Gardens & Lawns In The Hotel Grounds
Stayed In A Double Room Which Was Modern & Clean , Breakfast Was Excellent With A Large Choice Of Cooked & Cold Dishes
Evening Meal Is A Set Menu With 3 Courses For £45 Which Was Very Tasty & Excellent Value For Money
All The Staff Were Very Friendly & Helpful & I Would Def Stay Here Again 5*****
Been here a few times no problems. NEVER again.
Fantastic hotel, clean and well furnished. The area was so quiet yet close to Keswick town centre. Only a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute drive, although the hill back is a good one! The room was clean and tidy. It had everything we needed including facilities to make a brew. The hosts were so friendly and very helpful with ideas of things to do. It was good value and the breakfast options were terrific. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back!
Fabulous from start to finish! Very friendly staff in all areas of the hotel. Our room was on the first floor & overlooked staff accommodation & Latrigg Fell. It was very clean & had a lovely modern bathroom.
Breakfast had lots of choices & the hot buffet was regularly topped up.
Lovely location set in beautiful grounds.
Lots of seating areas both inside & out.
We will definitely return.
Thank you to all the team who made our stay such an enjoyable one.
This is the perfect location for walking into Keswick centre (about 5 minutes), but is also set in a beautiful location, with lawns all the way round it and bunnies playing on them. A magnificent setting for having a drink on the patio and watching the rabbits play.
The Hotel itself, is absolutely stunning with lovely, clean rooms, that have extra large sash windows, that open easily for some fresh air and listening to the birds.
The food was outstanding with breakfast having everything you would want and more.
The staff are very very friendly and more than happy to advise on anything you need to know, but also more than happy to have a chat about your day.
I can't recomment this hotel highly enough, and myself and husband will definitely be returning.
A really lovely grand Victorian hotel.
We were celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary. We loved the location & the hotel provided everything we wanted, except unfortunately any comfortable beds.
After our first bad night we reported it to reception, expecting maybe a topper to be placed on the beds. Instead the hotel moved us to a junior suite hoping this would resolve our predicament. However the 2nd night wasn't much better. Both feeling in a lot of pain & with lack of any sensible sleep we left a day earlier than planned. We would love to return one day because the hotel & all the staff are excellent. Only please provide a better quality mattress next time round.
Our meals were very good also. The evening meal was reasonably priced, but our wine never turned up with our meal, & after explaining to staff they quickly provided the wine for us in the bar area. We will return one day to explore the area. We have travelled extensively over the years in UK & abroad & never experienced a problem quite like this before.
We would like to thank Rob at reception for trying to help us.
Beautiful hotel & location. Happy holidays to everyone that does experience a great stay, sadly not right for us.
This hotel is a beautiful old building within a very well kept & pretty town. On arrival we struggled to get our suitcase through the revolving door, but once in WOW. We had 4 nights half board and it was excellent value and in our opinion should definitely be more than 3 stars. Reception were helpful and friendly, room was spacious bright and clean. Food was excellent. A credit to the hotel for their choice of staff as they were all amazing. The dining room staff were efficient, friendly and worked extremely well together and to their lovely Scottish barman whom nothing was too much trouble. The only negative was the lounge furniture was well used, therefore difficult to get out of. One warning possibly not good for severe mobility issues. We will most definitely be returning to this little gem 💎
Lovely stay, Highly recommend this place!
The hotel has been around since 1869 or close to that year and as much as it's a grand building, the decor is still very much around that time.
Its quite tired inside and the rooms feel a little dirty.
The towels were dirty too.
For a hotel with a decent rating we were disappointed
We’ve been coming to the hotel at different times of the year for the last 10 years., including a few New Year breaks. Breaks are reasonably priced.
The staff and food make this hotel. The food menus are varied and the cooked breakfast is excellent. However the steak we had was a little tough and chewy, the lamb shank was so much better than the steak. Maybe the supplier has changed?
A family visit with 6 of us for a weekend break. Room standards varied. A mixed bag. The deluxe king size rooms aren’t that deluxe as many have old style furniture and bathrooms, they are however very clean and warm and it was a benefit not to be over the bins.
Just a few minutes walk into the town, where there are plenty of things to keep you busy. A great choice of pubs, restaurants for lunch etc.
The weather was kind to us for most of the weekend, but when it wasn’t the lounge is big enough to accommodate guests.
We enjoyed our stay and hope to be back soon.
We arrived on Monday afternoon. Check in was smooth and all helpful staff. Room was lovely a good size and lovely en-suite. We stayed in room 203. Breakfast was buffet style. Helping yourself to cereals, fruit, yoghurt and a good selection of hot items ~ bacon sausage black pudding mushrooms baked beans and fried bread. The waiter / waitress came and took order for tea or coffee and toast, these were brought to the table.
We ate in the restaurant on both evenings and the food was excellent. Set menu £45 for 3 courses. All absolutely faultless. My only suggestion would be to offer 2 or 3 course option as it was a very large quantity of food! Great value all round and we would love to come back!
We have been coming here for well over 30 years and it never disappoints. It is a very comfortable hotel in an excellent location.
The staff are lovely, with many being here for years. It shows! The food is very good and plentiful. The reception rooms are well-appointed. The bedrooms are comfortable. It could easily be a 4 star hotel.
We just want to come back again and again.
The hotel is dog tolerant and not dog friendly. Apart from your room your pet is only allowed in one room in the hotel. This is a cold and unforgiving place, where no-one in there right mind would be. In the grounds, dogs must be on a lead. Why not have a mote to say. Dogs must be kept under control. In addition, there are enough public rooms to have a suitable one available for guests.
Always enjoy a visit to Keswick Country House Hotel
Great position, service and friendly staff
I would avoid this if you want a stress free stay in Keswick. My booking has just been cancelled with less than 3 weeks notice with no apology or explanation.
Completely unacceptable and they obviously have no moral compass if the can get more money from
Another booking.
Disgraceful behavior.
Just returned from a 3 night break away with a group of friends for a bridge break. The hotel is stunning, set in beautiful grounds. We had dinner on each evening, and the food is wonderful. There are lovely choices and all to a very high standard. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. Plenty of parking on site and just a short walk into the centre of Keswick. We had such a great time, we are returning in July.
This is an amazing hotel. We had a warm welcome and there was plenty of space to chill out.
The bar area was good and the staff were lovely. All the staff in this hotel are a credit to the owners.
We had a 2 night dinner b&b deal which was value for money as the food in the restaurant was delicious.
Location is good for walks and town and the grounds were nice too.
We would happily stay here again when visiting Keswick and we hope it’s soon.
An absolute pleasure to spend our Christmas Party here. Fabulous food and a good choice for all tastes. All the staff were helpful. The music was excellent and I danced the night away. Complements to the chefs. Well done for the entertainment. A special thanks to the very helpful waiters and waitresses. They did your hotel proud. We will book next Christmas now!!
