Sold a five star resort and delivered less than motel 6
Pros:

the location is supurb

Cons:

bathrooms have mold or severe dirt. standard rooms have no air con. walls are paper thin so every time a door opens or closes you hear the slam through the walls. no safe in room. the bed sheets and pillow covers are never changed the entire time you stay here. windows offer no relief from heat into the rooms. rooms are outdated.

Pros:

Food and service were excellent.
The staff very friendly and attentive and honestly couldn't do enough for the visitors.
The room was ample size and the hotel was nice and cool in the hot weather.
Bed was okay, mattress and pillows were on the firm side but comfortable enough.
The room was cleaned every day and extra tea/towels etc requested were supplied immediately.
One thing I would say is maybe they could supply a squeegee for after the showers. I say this because the shower was very powerful (and refreshing 🤣) but in an enclosed room it wasnt ventilated very well, so got steamy and then wet on the walls and floor. I wouldn't have minded minimising that myself by using a squeegee and a towel, obviously not everyone would do this but just an idea.
The grounds were beautiful.
Foyer and public spaces were clean and tidy.
Very large car park.
There were a lot of house martins flying about which were charming to watch, and the same with bats at night.

Cons:

The carpet in the room had seen better days i think. There was ivy around the windows which meant if the windows were opened bugs came in. Lots of them 🤣
There had obviously been a leak at the ceiling level of the window wall which looked a bit unsightly.
If you didnt book evening meal when booking the hotel you have to book daily, the staff pulled a bit of a face when we turned up not knowing this but to their credit they always made room for us.
Be aware on the car park that if it rains your car may get splashed with grey/white sediment off the stones on the carpark.
Thats about it really, nothing major.
We enjoyed our stay and would visit again but probably book a more expensive room.

Nice location and clean hotel. Although no aircon or bedside lamps in room.
Pros:

The location was lovely. The spa was good.

Cons:

I booked (some 23 days prior to our visit)an evening meal in ‘The View’ restaurant for 7pm . We were told (when checking in)that it had been moved to 6.45pm. We were seated behind the chimney of an open fire (so could not see any view of the grounds) and were told we could not be moved as they were very busy despite there being empty tables (for the duration of our meal) with a view of the grounds. A member of staff (Jackie)later apologised and compensated us for this and was very nice to be fair. Most of the other staff appeared very young. Drinks were very expensive in the bar and the till broke down later on so we could not order more drinks although we received a free drink each for this . It took about 15 minutes before our breakfast order was taken ( there were not enough staff ) The cooked breakfasts were nice but not hot .

Very nice couple of nights away with our dogs
Pros:

Room was very nice and convenient to take dogs out of the patio doors

Cons:

On Booking.com it said that it was dog-friendly but there was no mention that there is an additional charge for bringing dogs. It was a surprise to be then told that there is a £25 charge per dog per night for bringing them and we needed to upgrade our room. This should be communicated on booking.com a bit more clearly.

The first night we had a meal in the bar. This was poor, and not value for money at all. An example being that the trout salad just consisted of trout, potatoes and some salad leaves (not really a salad).

The second night we ate in the restaurant and in comparison this was lovely and very good value

Lovely views but room could have been bigger.
Pros:

Breakfast

Cons:

Price demanded for use of swimming pool, GBP 30 per day when all my wife wanted was to swim in the pool for 30 minutes without using the rest of the spa.

No safe nor fridge in the room.
