Decent overnight stay
Pros:

Staff friendly. Breakfast was great

Cons:

Room was quite dated for the price - and the tariff went up £40 from the morning of my booking date to the afternoon (but you know that when you book)

Price didnt match the overall experience
Pros:

The location and grounds where lovely

Cons:

The quality of the original room i booked was extremely poor. We paid to upgrade to a better room, the swimming pool is not included in the price it cost 30 each for a 2 hour slot taht you are given you do not choose the time yourself. 60 a day to use the swimming pool per day on top of 250 a night room rate is crazy

Good at hotel but the spa could do with some client training to make guests feel welcome
Pros:

The spa and pool

Cons:

My experience having a massage in the spa was not good. The lady I had hardly spoke a word to me.

A piece of heaven in the Yorkshire Dales.
Pros:

The spa provides an excellent service - the treatment I had was the best. The pool and jacuzzis were not busy because custimer numbers are kept well managed. The food in The View restaurant was exceptional with service to match. The staff at reception could not be more helpful.

Cons:

Nothing

We had a fabulous time despite the average food. Staff exceptional. Location exceptional.
Pros:

Location. View from “The View”.

Cons:

Dinner and breakfast. We ordered ribeye steak and had to wait an hour. It was not good. Breakfast not hot. Poached egg hard and beans warm even after sending back.

Apart from a few disappointments- we did enjoy our stay
Pros:

Dining room and food very good. Very attentive staff. Surrounding grounds lovely. Beautiful views of the lake. Able to take walks in the grounds.

Cons:

Towel allocation. On arrival we found only 1 bath towel and one hand towel in our room (Two sharing double room). We asked reception for another set of towels. We were told that management had decided to restrict towels due to environmental issues. The policy was one set of towels per double room! We weren’t satisfied with this and queried if environmental issues were of a higher importance than hygiene. We demanded a further set of towels and pointed out that we were paying premium prices to stay at the spa hotel. Housekeeping then supplied us with another set of towels.
We were also very disappointed that despite paying premium prices to stay at a spa hotel, we were not able to use the Spa without paying £40 for 2 hours use of the spa. I asked if I could just use the swimming pool and was told a £10.00 charge would be made for 1 hours use. I declined the offer.
On departure we found additional items totalling £103 had been added to our bill. These items had not been incurred by us. This money was refunded when we pointed the items out to the receptionist.

Lovely hotel, shame about the restaurant
Pros:

Lovely area, great spa and nice room.

Cons:

Unfortunately we decided to eat at the view restaurant for my birthday and this changed our opinion on the hotel overall. The lovely reception staff who welcomed us gave us a free glass of Fizz which we decided to have outside as the weather was lovely, before we headed inside for our meal. The experience at the start was great, with snacks coming out pretty quick and was very yummy. It all went downhill once we sat inside for our dinner. We didn’t even get acknowledged for at least 10 minutes for a drink, once we finally did we decided to order our food which took around 50 minutes to arrive. My husband ordered the rack of lamb which was meant to come with confit leeks, when pointing out that these were missing from the dish they said they would prepare some more for us. Unfortunately the leeks come 10 minutes after we had already finished eating, to which we said we no longer wanted as we had already had dinner. We then ordered pancakes as part of the children’s set menu to takeaway as we could no longer sit waiting at the table being ignored all evening. When these finally arrived and we asked for the bill, we had been charged for our ‘free’ fizz and the additional confit leeks (which was missing from the dish which was always meant to be a part of the dish). The bill was changed and I expressed my frustrations to the member of staff who apologised and by this time had been 2 hours since sitting at our table! What could have been a lovely experience was let down by a lack of staff and unfortunately a lack of care and customer awareness.
